📢 CITY WALK – THURSDAY, OCTOBER 8

Houston, please be aware that Houston Lower Elementary will be having their annual City Walk this Thursday morning, beginning at 8:15 a.m.

Students will be walking throughout downtown Houston and visiting local businesses. With a large number of children on the sidewalks and crossing streets, we ask everyone to please use extra caution and watch for students and staff, especially while driving through downtown.

🚨 Emergency vehicles and runs: Please be especially mindful and prepared for possible delays due to the number of children walking in the area.

City Walk is expected to be completed by approximately noon.

Thank you, Houston, for helping us keep our students safe! đź’™
Slow down, stay alert, and watch for our kids!

A huge thank you to Houston High School and Mrs Tessa Honeycutt for the opportunity to participate in Career Day! It was an honor to spend time with the students, share a little about what we do, and give them a hands-on experience with some of the equipment we use—including experiencing restraints and seeing how heavy our bulletproof armor really is.

The students asked some great questions, but one question from a young lady really stood out to me.

She asked:

“If it was a life-or-death mission to convince someone to become a police officer, and you only had one shot, what would you say?”

My answer was simple:

“I’ve had the opportunity to be there for people during some of the most challenging moments of their lives—and to be the person who helps them get through it.”

That, to me, is what this profession is truly about. It’s about serving others, making a difference when people need it most, and hopefully leaving every person you encounter a little better than you found them.

Thank you again to Houston High School and all the students who took the time to engage, ask questions, and learn about the profession. The future is in good hands. 👮‍♂️🇺🇸
