We are thrilled to share that Will Shappley will be the Honorary Corporate Grand Marshal for Walk 2026.

Will is Vice President of Structured Products, Americas at BP. Alongside his professional work, Will is deeply committed to supporting Breakthrough T1D, a mission that is profoundly personal to him and his family. His daughter, Mary Ellis, was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of five. Since that day, type 1 diabetes has become part of the Shappley family’s daily reality. Through this experience, Will has seen firsthand that type 1 diabetes is not something that goes away—it is a lifelong condition that requires relentless attention and support. The Shappley family became involved with Breakthrough T1D shortly after Mary Ellis’s diagnosis and has remained deeply engaged ever since participating in annual walks, building “Team Mary Ellis,” and helping raise awareness, funding, and community support. What began as a way to cope and connect has evolved into a sustained commitment to accelerate research, improve care, and ultimately find a cure. Join Will and his family November 7th by registering for Walk at http://walk.breakthrought1d.org/Houston

📣Join us for the 2026 Breakthrough T1D Greater Houston Walk, chaired this year by Nelly White! The Walk will be on Saturday, November 7 at Houston Sports Park.

Nelly’s journey with type 1 diabetes began 14 years ago when she started working at Sequent Energy, now Williams Company, and helped coordinate employee events leading up to OneWalk. Although Nelly doesn’t have a personal connection to T1D, she is deeply inspired by the resilience of the community and the significant impact Breakthrough T1D makes every day. Breakthrough T1D relies heavily on allies to amplify their message and fund the research that leads to life-changing breakthroughs. By standing with her friends, Nelly’s not just offering emotional support – she is actively helping to accelerate cures and improve daily life for millions. Her support provides momentum needed to turn type one into type none! We are looking forward to our Walk Program moving forward under her leadership! Sign up to walk with Nelly today at walk.breakthrought1d.org/Houston
