Empowering the community through mental health education, advocacy, and connection to care.

Today is Global Running Day! Whether you run, walk, stretch, dance, or simply spend time outdoors, we hope you move in a way that supports your well-being.

Today also gives us a chance to make an even bigger impact. MHA of Greater Houston is participating in the Chevron Houston Marathon Run for a Reason Charity Challenge, and we have the opportunity to win an additional $25,000 for mental health programs and resources.

Every donation made today, June 3, helps bring us closer to that goal and supports connection to care, advocacy, education, and resource navigation for people across Texas.

Thank you for helping us move mental health forward.

Big news: Care Connect is now serving communities across Texas!

What started as a way to help Houstonians navigate mental health care has grown into a statewide resource connecting Texans to the support they deserve.

Through Care Connect, individuals and families can:
✔️ Search 1,000+ vetted mental health providers and services
✔️ Filter by insurance, language, ZIP code, specialty, and more
✔️ Find low-cost and no-cost care options
✔️ Receive one-on-one support from trained resource specialists

Because no one should have to navigate mental health care alone.

May is also National Military Appreciation Month, and we honor our Veterans Behavioral Health Team, Edward and Kevin, who not only served our country, but continue to serve fellow veterans every day through advocacy, connection, and compassionate support.

Their lived experience, dedication, and commitment help veterans and their families navigate challenges, access resources, and find community. We are deeply grateful for their service both in and out of uniform.

Thank you to all who have served and continue to uplift others through service.

We’re proud to share new insights into mental health needs across Greater Houston.

Working with our Public Health Graduate Intern, Carolina Barrett (Temple University), we analyzed more than 104,000 mental health screenings across 186 ZIP codes to better understand where needs are highest and where access to care is limited.

The map highlights priority areas across our region, showing how where you live can shape your ability to access mental health support. These findings will help guide our outreach, partnerships, and resources so we can better reach communities that need support most.

We’re grateful for Carolina’s contributions and proud to continue advancing data-informed strategies to improve mental health access across the region.

Your story is more than something that happened to you, it holds insight, truth, and the power to influence change. Advocacy isn’t about having the perfect words or a professional title. It’s about being willing to step forward and learn how to use your voice and lived experience with intention.

If you’ve ever wondered whether your story truly matters, this training is for you.

In this session, participants will explore the foundations of advocacy. We’ll break down the three forms: personal, community, and systemic, and examine how each shows up in everyday life and broader change efforts.

The goal is to leave feeling confident, equipped, and ready to advocate in ways that are authentic, meaningful, and effective.
