The Honor Guard was established in 1977 and continues to uphold the proud tradition of service with the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard was formed in December 1977, primarily for the purpose of providing appropriate honors for the funeral services of Harris County Sheriff’s deputies slain while in the performance of duty. Since the first assignment, the mission of the Honor Guard has been expanded. It now includes an es**rt of honor representing the Sheriff’s Office at funeral service

The Harris County Sheriff's Office Honor Guard paid tribute to law enforcement officers who often endure unseen wounds by placing a single rose, as the nation observes National Police Officer Memorial Day with a Memorial Ceremony on the U.S. Capitol's lawn.

National Police Week is not only a time to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice, but also to recognize those who continue to serve on the front lines each and every day.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office Honor Guard is dedicated to serve and support agencies during NPW. This week we want to give a special thanks to our Bagpiper L. Wagner and Bugler G. Sealy for their commitment.
