In anticipation of severe weather, Texas Southern University will operate remotely on Monday, January 26, 2026.
Remote Classes
All classes will be conducted remotely on Monday, January 26. Students should monitor their university email and Canvas for notifications from professors regarding class meetings and assignments. Questions should be directed to your professor.
Faculty – Remote Work
Monday, January 26, is designated as a remote workday for faculty.
Staff – Remote Work
Monday, January 26, is designated as a remote workday for staff. Essential services will be maintained. Essential personnel should contact their supervisor for information about their work schedule.
Dining Services
The Dining Hall will operate with brunch hours on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. Hours will be 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., and from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Students who reside in the residence halls will have access to regular shuttle service to and from the Dining Hall.
Student Center
The Student Center will be open as a warming center, and will follow the same schedule as the Dining Hall.
Athletics
Athletics events against Alabama A&M University on Saturday, January 24, have adjusted start times:
Doors open: 11:00 a.m.
Women’s Basketball game: 12:00 p.m.
Men’s Basketball game: 2:30 p.m.
The Men’s Basketball game against Alabama State University originally scheduled for Monday will be played on Tuesday, January 27, at 1:00 p.m.
No other on-campus events will take place on Saturday, Sunday, or Monday.

Texas Southern University will be closed on Monday, January 19, 2026, in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
Members of the TSU community are encouraged to show their support by attending the MLK Unity Parade in Downtown Houston beginning at 10 a.m.!
The inaugural MLK Unity Parade will include a performance by the Ocean of Soul Marching Band ( ), marking its first performance of the year. Your community station, .9fm will also be in attendance as General Manager Ernest Walker is set to be recognized during the programming.
