We speak up for children who are lost in the foster system and guide them into a safe environment. Volunteers who make a difference in the lives of children.

There's no easy answer to the ever-present "What is Child Advocates?"

Very simply, our organization trains and supports volunteers. These volunteers are assigned to the cases of children who have been victims of life-threatening abuse or neglect and - as a result - have been placed in protective custody. Our volunteers contact caseworkers, interview parents, ensure necessary medical care, look out for educational interests and make recommendations in court regarding the permanent placement of the child. They dry tears and give hugs and throw birthday parties too. Most importantly, they serve as a "constant" person for that child to count on during a very tumultuous time. Essentially, our volunteers do whatever it takes to ensure that the needs of the child are being met while that child is in care.

There’s nothing quite like Friday night lights! 🌟🏈 One of our advocates recently cheered on a 12-year-old boy at his football game and celebrated his team’s first win of the season! Since joining the team, he’s made tremendous strides in his behavior, confidence and personal growth. His advocate couldn’t be prouder to witness his progress, both on and off the field.

Big check alert!🚨 This past weekend, we attended Weatherford Walks at the Houston Zoo. This annual event brings together Weatherford employees and their families for a day of unity and philanthropy. Child Advocates is incredibly grateful to Weatherford for their generous $125,000 donation and continued commitment to making a difference in the lives of children in foster care.
