Houston homeowners, you may qualify for help repairing storm damage.

Fifth Ward CRC is sharing information about Unlock Housing, offered by Connective in partnership with the Chinese Community Center. The program provides personalized, one-on-one assistance with the application process for the City of Houston’s Home Repair Assistance Program.

Eligible households may receive up to $100,000 for repairs OR up to $300,000 for homes requiring full reconstruction.

The flyer lists these primary eligibility criteria:

• Your property sustained significant damage from Hurricane Beryl or the May 2024 derecho.
• Your property is a single-family home within Houston city limits.
• The affected home is your primary residence.
• You are a U.S. citizen or legal U.S. resident.

Priority groups include applicants age 62 or older, veterans with disabilities, and applicants with disabilities. All eligible Houston homeowners are encouraged to apply, including those outside these priority groups.

Cycle 1 focuses on Workforce Development and Small Business Support. Join us virtually to learn about eligibility requirements, funding priorities, and the application process.

Fifth Ward CRC thanks Texas State Affordable Housing Corporation (TSAHC) for sponsoring our FREE FALL-ing Into Homeownership Resource Fair, hosted in partnership with Houston Land Bank. TSAHC helps expand affordable housing opportunities for Texans through programs that include down payment assistance.

Whether you are beginning to explore your options, saving for a home, or ready to buy, you are welcome! Learn about homebuyer education, hear from bankers and lenders, and discover the free services available through our Homeownership Promotion and Preservation team.
