It is with profound sadness that SETRAC mourns the passing of Dr. David Persse, a longtime friend, colleague, and dedicated supporter of SETRAC and our regional healthcare and emergency response community.

Dr. Persse was an exceptional physician and leader whose commitment to emergency medicine, EMS, and the health and safety of our community touched countless lives. He faithfully served for many years on the SETRAC Board of Directors and, in 2019, succeeded Dr. Kenneth Mattox as Chairman of the Board, a position he held through 2025. Throughout his service, he provided invaluable leadership, guidance, and support to SETRAC and its mission.

For those fortunate enough to work closely with him, his impact was deeply personal. He was a trusted colleague, mentor, steadfast supporter, and friend.

Dr. Persse leaves an extraordinary legacy of service to our region and to the many patients, healthcare professionals, first responders, and organizations whose lives and work he influenced.

His wisdom, dedication, friendship, and commitment to service will be greatly missed.

Please keep his family, friends, colleagues, and all who knew and loved him in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

🚨 RHPC SYMPOSIUM SESSION SPOTLIGHT 🚨

Race Riot: A Case Study on Multi-Agency Response from Northern Ireland

📍 Galveston is hosting a session you won't want to miss at the 2026 RHPC Symposium.

🚨 RACE RIOT: A Case Study on Multi-Agency Response from Northern Ireland

On June 9, 2026, Belfast and towns across Northern Ireland erupted into race-hate fuelled violence that made global headlines — sparked by a viral video of a brutal knife attack. Homes were attacked. Public transit ground to a halt. Officers were hurt.

ACC Ryan Henderson takes us inside the cross-agency response — before, during, and after — with an honest look at what worked, what didn't, and the curveballs no one saw coming.

Twenty-five years ago, September 11, 2001, changed our nation forever.

Today, we pause to remember the lives lost, honor the courage and sacrifice of the first responders and everyday heroes who ran toward danger, and recognize all those whose lives were forever changed by the events of that day.

A quarter century has passed, but their stories, their sacrifice, and their memory endure.

May we never forget those we lost. May we never forget those who served. And may we never forget the strength and unity we found in one another.
