If you use a vehicle for your business, you may be eligible to claim a deduction using the mileage or the expenses incurred to operate the vehicle.
Standard mileage rates are set by the IRS and change yearly. The 2024 rate is set at 67 cents per mile. Actual expenses allows you to write off the cost of gas, repairs, maintenance, and insurance. It is important to calculate each deduction accurately and compare so you can determine which will be the most beneficial.

With tax day fast approaching, please be sure to bring all of your tax documents when you file your federal income tax return. This includes all W2s, 1099s, 1098s, and 1095-As. If you fail to file all of the income you made for the tax year, you may be subject to penalties or repayment to the IRS. You also avoid paying for an amendment in order to correct your return.
There are various factors that come in to play when it comes to calculating your tax obligation. These factors include age, filing status, and income. Some taxpayers may qualify for credits or deductions that can result in a refund or reduce the amount they may have owed.
Typically the more money you make, the more you will be taxed. It is important to ensure that enough withholdings are being taken out of your pay if you are an employee. Self-employed individuals can pay quarterly to avoid having such a big bill at the end of the tax year.
Taxpayers have until April 15th to file. If you expect to owe this year, it is highly recommended that you file your return before the deadline. The IRS can charge penalties and interest until your debt is paid in full.
