The Kauffman team had a great time at the Houston BOMA Expo last week, connecting with property managers, facility professionals, and industry partners from across Houston.
Between conversations at the booth and throughout the event, we appreciated the opportunity to talk about fire alarms, sprinkler systems, inspections, monitoring, and service with the people helping keep Houston properties running safely.
📍 Thank you to the Houston Building Owners and Managers Association (Houston BOMA) for hosting a great event.

From the State Fire Marshal’s Office: With freezing temperatures expected across Texas this weekend, the State Fire Marshal’s Office (SFMO) is reminding residents to stay safe as they heat their homes ahead of cold weather. According to SFMO, improper use of heating equipment is a leading cause of winter fires.
SFMO winter safety tips include:
• Never use your oven to heat your home.
• Inspect space heaters before using them; check for cracked plugs or frayed cords.
• Plug heaters directly into wall outlets - do not use extension cords or power strips.
• Keep space heaters and heat lamps at least three feet from anything that can burn.
• Turn off space heaters when you leave the room or go to sleep.
These simple precautions can help prevent house fires during the colder months.

Cold weather reminder: fire sprinkler systems are vulnerable to freezing when heat is shut off or piping is exposed. Taking preventative measures now can help avoid system damage and unwanted shutdowns. 🌨
