Rice University Summer School for Grades 8 through 12

Rice dissolved this program, to our sadness. We wish we could still offer summer school and offer the highest quality teacher training in the city, but alas...the university saw the M.A.T. program as a cash cow and moved it to the department of continuing studies. Maybe one day Rice will see its error. Rice is a great institution, after all.

We're in the middle of summer school learning about everything from poetry to blood and guts!

Students in "Food for the Soul" created their own recipes and wrote poems to go with them. This week they competed in a "Poetry Cookoff," and the winner was Michael A. with his Cajun Shrimp Soup that made us all picture a trip down to the French Quarter in New Orleans, LA! Spicy and delicious! Congratulations to Michael and to all the other students who made some delicious dishes!

Last day of summer school is tomorrow. We ask you: what summer school class would you like us to offer next year? Someone mentioned a class that analyzes popular television shows today...
