Just a quick Wings Over Houston update:
Just had the debrief last Saturday.
Attendance for the 2025 show was in the 90,000 range. Considering the Gov-shutdown impact on the final week of ticket-selling…Not bad. No doubt that attendance Would have broken the Thunderbird record, but we tied it!
T-Birds to return this year with Wings Over Houston 2026 falling on the weekend of October 31st-November 1st.
See you there…e-mail me to get placed on the Communicator Roster.

Well, good evening Wings Over Houston Communicators!
Today being July 3, I wish all of you a very happy and safe tomorrow, our independence Day .
Time to start looking at your calendars and saving the date for the 2025 Wings Over Houston Airshow.
This year’s airshow will happen on October 17, 18, and 19, and we will be welcoming the United States Air Force Thunderbirds as our featured demonstration team.
As usual, we’re gonna need 75 to 85 people on the field each day, with 25 shadowing our airshow medical teams.
Please contact me at [email protected] or [email protected] to volunteer.
Thank you, George Levandoski ,K5JIN
Wings Over Houston 2025 | Airshow | AIR SHOW INSIDER® The 2025 Wings Over Houston Airshow, Ellington Airport. Featuring some of the best military and civilian pilots in the world!
Calling all Radio Amateurs:
Hey y’all…Thank you for your interest in volunteering.
The Wings Over Houston is a 3-day event. We require about 75 Hams on the field both Saturday and Sunday, with a much smaller crew needed on Friday when the Special Airshow for kids with disabilities is held, and a Drive-In Show where those who buy a ticket can watch from the comfort of their vehicle during afternoon practice (also 2-3 hours). We need about 20 or so Hams on that day.
Each day is a long one! 9 to 5 on Friday, 6 am to 6pm on Saturday and Sunday.
You'll need an HT with headset and an extra battery! Again, these are long days. We handle many calls for service each day, and many of them are requests for medical attention. We have positions on the field for every one of every ability and physical capability. For example, our 'Rover-Stations' can walk 10 miles or more each day while traversing the mile long ramp. Our 'Bicycle Mobile Stations' can put on many more miles than that! We also have stationary positions as well where foot travel is minimal. A Box-Lunch is provided on Saturday and Sunday and as one would expect, there are a plethora of food booths available for you to purchase just about anything the fast-food world can put on a plate, a stick or in a cup.
We'd love for you to join us and hope this whets your appetite. If you have specific questions, please email me back. I'll also need to know which days you'll be available please.
George, K5JIN
