Houston TranStar was proud to see partners Josh Pulley, Emergency Management Coordinator for the Texas Department of Transportation District, and Ruth Tovar, Director of Communications for the City of Houston Office of Emergency Management, share their insights at the Disaster Recovery Expo roundtable, “Keeping a City Running: Managing Urban Services During Disasters.”

The discussion explored how city leaders, transportation agencies, public works departments and logistics teams work together to maintain critical infrastructure, restore essential services and coordinate emergency response while building long-term urban resilience.

Strong partnerships, coordinated planning and strategic communication help keep our region moving, prepared and resilient when disaster strikes. 🌎

As of 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 13, flights at George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) are experiencing significant delays after a construction contractor damaged a fiber-optic line today.

Flight delays and cancellations are possible this evening. Passengers arriving internationally may experience extended wait times clearing U.S. Customs.

Passengers who have questions about their flights should contact their airlines.

Crews are on-site making repairs.

Houston Airports is coordinating with airlines and U.S. Customs and Border Protection to manage the impacts and assist departing and arriving passengers.

Houston Airports will provide updates as repairs progress.
