6th Grade Science Investigation!

Today, our 6th graders explored how different surfaces affect the motion of a rolling car. Students tested the car on floor tile, felt, and sandpaper and observed how friction changed the car’s movement.

Through hands-on investigation, students discovered that tile produced the least friction, while sandpaper produced the greatest friction. What a great way to put science into motion!

Students used the information provided at their tables and the brain molds they created to answer questions analyzing the structures and characteristics of the brain. Students used a mixture that quickly hardened into either a cat or rabbit brain model. They were then asked to compare and contrast their brain model with their tablemates’ models, providing an engaging, hands-on opportunity to analyze similarities and differences between the brain structures.
