Dr. Walker provided an update on the great things happening at the university and exciting opportunities on the horizon. BAHEP’s Aerospace Advisory Committee (AAC) met yesterday to discuss current developments across the region’s aerospace community, legislative priorities and initiatives shaping the industry’s future.

The meeting included a legislative update from State Representative Dr. Greg Bonnen, followed by a presentation on public market readiness with Rick Hashop of SpaceRock. Members also heard from James Blue of Storyboard Studios about the Space State initiative and its role in highlighting Houston's position in the growing space economy.

Joyce Abbey of SAIC provided an update on Team NASA/Space Center Volunteers and the important role volunteers play in supporting NASA and Space Center Houston programs and activities. The committee also reviewed its 2027 budget and heard an update from Rodolfo Gonzales with the Rotary National Award for Space Achievement (RNASA) before opening the floor for discussion on upcoming events and priorities.

Thank you to everyone who participated in this month’s AAC meeting and continues to contribute to the strength and growth of the region’s aerospace industry.

BAHEP was honored to join Dickinson Independent School District this morning for the ribbon cutting of the new Dickinson ISD CTE Career and Technical Education Center at Dickinson High School.

BAHEP President Brian Freedman attended alongside district leaders, students, and community partners. The center was funded through Bond 2023, approved by Dickinson ISD voters, and gives students a place to build skills, explore high-demand careers, and prepare for what comes after graduation.

Facilities like this strengthen the bridge between education and industry. They help build the skilled workforce our employers in aerospace, healthcare, maritime, and specialty chemicals need.

Congratulations to Dickinson ISD, Dickinson High School, and the Dickinson community on this milestone for Gator Nation.
