Houston Habitat For Humanity Volunteers

Show us some love here at Houston Habitat for Humanity this month at OKRA Charity Saloon. Guests get one vote per drink purchased to put toward their favorite charity!!

Since our sponsors will be building with us every Saturday in the months of March, April, & May, we have begun scheduling volunteer groups for Saturdays in June 2013! Remember you can register your group with up to 25 people, 16 years of age or older. Call Corry or Lauren at 713-671-9993 to get your group scheduled.

Houston Habitat is a proud community partner with Fifth Ward CRC, which is an organization dedicated to neighborhood revitalization in the fifth ward area. This organization is building a new park for the children of the community (Kaboom Park) and will need about 20 volunteers for Wednesday, February 13th and Friday, February 15th. The Houston Habitat for Humanity Restore will be representing our organization this weekend at the upcoming Home Show at Reliant Center on February 8th, February 9th, and February 10th. The Houston Habitat Restore is a home improvement store that offers new and like-new building materials including furniture, paint, cabinetry and more at deeply discounted prices. Proceeds go toward our mission of eliminating substandard housing in Houston.

Houston Rapper Teams Up With Habitat For Humanity With a poverty rate of almost 24 percent, Houston has plenty of residents in need of housing assistance. Habitat for Humanity provides many low-income Houstonians with a home of their own. To reach more potential beneficiaries, the organization now partners with a local rap star.

Happy New Year from Volunteer Services! We are currently recruiting volunteers who are interested in becoming Volunteer House Leads. We are seeking those with experience in roofing, decking, cornice, trusses, and framing, but we will also train. We will need Volunteer House Leads starting in March when our build schedules are in full swing. If you or someone you know is interested, contact Lauren or Corry at 713-671-9993.

December 15th will be the last weekend of the year that we will be working with Volunteer groups. Opportunities will pick back up in January 2013, stay tuned for a list of sign-up dates!
