Did you know? Last year, The Beacon provided 23,954 loads of laundry, all made possible by incredible volunteers who showed up with energy, kindness, and heart.

Unfortunately, when volunteer turnout is low, we’re forced to limit services, and laundry is often the first to be cut. That’s why we’re so grateful for every person who gives their time. Your impact truly matters; as we wind down into the summer months, we could still use your help providing essential services!

🙌 We'd love to hear in the comments which volunteer opportunity is your favorite at The Beacon!

The Beacon was honored to share our work at yesterday's 3rd Annual Homeless Response System Conference hosted by our community partner, The Coalition for the Homeless.

Our staff presented on the Pathways Team's role in helping clients navigate services and next steps toward stability, as well as a Rapid Resolution partnership with Houston Recovery Center designed to reach and support high barrier clients.

Events like these strengthen collaboration across our community and help ensure that individuals experiencing homelessness have access to coordinated, effective support.

Earlier this week, we gathered with some of the most dedicated, big-hearted people we know — and we are still feeling the energy.

At our "Evening with The Beacon" reception, we had the chance to share the story of the Beacon, celebrate the work our team does every single day, and look ahead to the future of this mission. Hearing from our CEO, Ana, and our Board leadership about why this work matters — and why now matters — reminded us of exactly why we do what we do.

To everyone who joined us: thank you. Your presence, your support, and your belief in this community means more than we can say.

Want to get involved? Whether you're interested in attending Come to the Table, volunteering, or learning more about other ways to support the Beacon — we'd love to connect. Drop a comment, send us a message, or visit www.beaconhomeless.org.

Sometimes a fresh start begins with the right support at the right time.

After experiencing housing instability, “Cassandra” connected with The Beacon’s Day 1 Diversion program, where staff worked alongside her on case management, budgeting, document gathering, and employment support. Through determination and months of hard work, Cassandra secured employment and took important steps toward rebuilding stability for herself and her family.

Today, Cassandra has moved into her own permanent home through HUD supported housing. The relief of finally having a safe and stable place to call home marked the beginning of a hopeful new chapter.

We’re honored to walk alongside clients like Cassandra on their journey toward stability.

Our REACH classes are one of the many ways we partner with community organizations to create connections and support for the individuals we serve.

REACH stands for Recreation, Engagement, and Activities for Community Health. This 10-week curriculum promotes wellness and social engagement for our Day Center clients. These classes were developed and are being facilitated by a University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) Occupational Therapy Doctoral Student in partnership with one of our Pathways Team members, who is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Associate.

Each week, we are thrilled to see the engagement and growth of our clients thanks to REACH!
