October 16 as national dictionary day was selected to commemorate the birthday of Noah Webster, who is widely considered the father of the American dictionary!

This day emphasizes the value of words, vocabulary building, and literacy along with encouraging readers to explore and learn new words!

Fun Fact: Webster’s dictionary contained around 70,000 words! This included 12,000 words that had never appeared in a dictionary before.

Join us on Tuesday, October 13, at 4:15 pm, for Leaves & Woodland Scenes! Get creative with two fun autumn-inspired crafts! Participants will make a colorful felt autumn leaf keyring and create their own autumn woodland scene using clay and natural wood slices. Both crafts celebrate the colors and beauty of autumn while giving everyone something unique to take home. This program is for children in grades 4-8 only. While supplies last.
