Middle school comes with lots of changes, new experiences, growing independence, and a few extra things to keep in your backpack! 😊

A BIG thank you to our wonderful friends at St. Martin's Episcopal Church for lovingly assembling hygiene kits for our Nehemiah Center middle school students!

These thoughtful bags were filled with everyday essentials to help our students feel confident, prepared, and ready to take on the day. And judging by those smiles, they were a hit! ❤️

From the volunteers who packed each bag to the students who received them, this is what community and kindness look like in action!

Thank you, St. Martin's, for loving on our students and reminding them that their community is cheering them on every step of the way! 💙

We need your help! The City of Houston is considering a request to abandon and CLOSE the 1100 block of Palm Street between Fannin and Main, directly across from the Nehemiah Center.

The public-comment period is open through October 5, and we need the City to hear from the people who know and care about Nehemiah.

We had so much fun celebrating Grandparents Day at the Nehemiah Center today! From big hugs and happy smiles to lots of special memories, we loved welcoming our grandparents and giving our children a chance to celebrate some very important people in their lives. 🥰

We believe big dreams start with small moments like these. We look for every opportunity to remind our students that college and a bright future are possibilities for them, and we have a lot of fun planting those seeds along the way! From PreK to High School!

💜💛 GEAUX TIGERS… and Dream BIG, Nehemiah! 💜💛
At Nehemiah, we start talking about college and the future early. Sometimes those lessons happen in the classroom, and sometimes they happen outside, under a college flag flying high over San Jacinto Street!

A huge THANK YOU to Jane and Chris Champion for their generous support at our gala for bidding and winning the chance to fly their college flag from our flagpole during football season. Today, our PreK and Middle School students came together in their best purple to celebrate LSU, sing a little, laugh a lot, and most importantly, talk about college and all the possibilities ahead of them. 💜💛

Of course, LSU had a little home-field advantage. Our own Executive Director, Tonia Labbé, is LSU proud and VERY enthusiastic football fan! 🐯

But don't worry, Chris! We haven't forgotten that you're a Longhorn. 🤘 When UT takes the field, the Texas flag will fly proudly over Nehemiah too!

Thank you, Jane and Chris, for finding another fun and memorable way to support our children and remind them that college isn't just something they hear about. It's something they can dream about, work toward, and one day experience for themselves.

It’s Back-to-School season at the Nehemiah Center, and we couldn’t be more excited! The first day of school is always a celebration, and this year it was made possible by an incredible community of supporters who have been preparing alongside us.

🎒 First Presbyterian Church organized and donated a backpack for every child, making sure each student walked through our doors ready to learn. First Presbyterian Church, Houston

📚 A wonderful young member of the CEO Foundation donated books she collected on her birthday, giving our students exciting new stories to enjoy. We also had an amazing public health student from UH drop off extra supplies!

🎉 Our Enrollment Day was filled with smiles, goodies, and excitement as we welcomed new and returning families.

❤️ And this week, our classrooms came alive with laughter, learning, and the joy of a brand-new school year!

To every volunteer, donor, church partner, parent, and friend who helped make this possible we thank you! Together, we’re giving children the opportunity to learn, grow, and discover the incredible future God has planned for them.

🌞 The Kiwanis Nehemiah Summer Program is in full swing, and what a week it's been! Our campers kicked off summer with a joyful start, celebrating their first week at First Presbyterian’s Vacation Bible School, splashing around at a pool, getting creative with art lessons, learning some cool karate moves, and catching some fun at the movies! 🎨🧊🎬💦🎉
A huge thank you to all of the amazing volunteers who poured love and energy into this first week, to the Kiwanis Club for helping fund these unforgettable summer memories, and to FPC for filling our kids’ hearts with praise, worship, and joy. 💛🙏

🎓✨Graduation Celebrations!✨🎓

Hip hip hooray, to our sweet PreK students who are officially Kindergarteners and our 8th grade students moving on to high school! 🎉 We are SO proud of each and every one of them for their big hearts, curious minds, and all the hard work they’ve done this year. 💛

It’s been a joy and an honor to walk alongside them all, helping to plant seeds of faith, learning, and love. We’re incredibly grateful to their parents, and to God, for the chance to nurture and guide such precious lives. 🙏🌱

While we know we’ll see many of their smiling faces in our after-school and college prep programs next year, our hearts are still a little tender saying goodbye. 🥹

Go shine bright graduates, get ready world, here they come! 🌟 Have the BEST summer ever! ☀️🍉✏️
