Today we celebrated years of work with and in order to create the largest urban nature preserve in Texas (4,000 acres)! This not only is a good conservation initiative but it directly blends into flood protection and environmental protection by being able to absorb 1 billion gallons of water that would otherwise go into homes of area neighbors but it will also remove 5000 tons of carbon from the atmosphere every year. 1b gallons is enough to fill the Astrodome 12 times and 5k tons is equivalent to removing the emissions of about 1,100 gasoline powered vehicles! This is truly a generational investment that will benefit children and families for years! 🙏🏼😊
I was proud to join Houston Pilot’s Captain Matt Glass and others who were a major part of yesterday’s success in ushering in and specifically the . In order to board the Kearsarge Captain Glass formulated a plan to board safety from the pilot ship to the Kearsarge and to do it safely while we continued to move! Captain Glass’ experience was obvious and visible as he directed everyone on how to get the two moving ships closer together. Watch towards the end and you will see him to be the first to board and how the rest of us followed his boarding process! 🇺🇸⚓️💪🏽😊
