🚨IMPORTANT UPDATE AT BCS FOR 26-27🚨

In the 26-27 school year, Briarmeadow Charter school will no longer be a part of the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) program. As a result, school lunch will no longer be free to all students. Instead, families will need to complete a Free/Reduced-Price Meal Application to determine eligibility for free or reduced-price lunch meals.

To apply for free or reduced-price meals, please complete the HISD School Nutrition Meal Application beginning July 22, 2026.

Thank you our wonderful art teacher, Mrs Baxter, for leading all grades in learning exercises celebrating the art and history of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders during AAPI Heritage Month. Enjoy these photos of art selections from all grades displayed in the Briarmeadow foyer.

Last fall, so many families participated in our Carline Café — hosted by the PTO and serving ice coffee and tea during the afternoon carpool pickup — that the PTO was able to fund a new mural in the cafeteria. 🎨 Students designed and painted the “Bronco Bistro” mural with guidance by Briarmeadow’s Art teacher, Mrs Baxter. Thank you to our students and Mrs Baxter for lending their creativity and talent to brighten our cafeteria! 💙💛 Check out photos of the new mural below!

What a fun, tightly contested BCS students vs. staff volleyball game Tuesday, May 26th after school! The students brought youth, spirit, and a season of teamwork on the court. The staff brought height, motivation from students papering their doors with trash-talk, and a clearly displayed Learning Objective!!

1️⃣ Set 1 went to the staff: 20-7.

Play by play:
* Mr. White changed teams and added some height to the students. Or… …OR! [to quote an observer] was Mr. White a plant to secretly sabotage the students?!

* Mr. White seemed genuinely repentant after committing any faults. I believe he was a full team-player… …for both teams… …uh, for whichever side of the court he played.

* What does it matter when your referee is staff anyway, there are no line judges, and do-overs are a referee decision??

2️⃣ Set 2 went to the students: 20-17

Play by play:
* A tie! Time for a deciding set!

* Did Coach Josh spike the ball right onto a student’s head? Yes, yes he did. I’m pretty sure I heard someone [not Coach Josh] yell, “No mercy!”

3️⃣ Set 3 went to the staff: 19-17. Staff win the match! 🏆

* Staff executed their Learning Objective: “Students will be able to learn how TEACHERS WIN!!!” (seen in the post-match group photo and clearly displayed in advance of the lesson)

* But is victory worth all the ibuprofen they needed afterward? 😂 🤔
