With the Coast Guard falling into the DHS Shutdown, we are entering another two weeks of uncertainty. It is unlikely DHS Military personnel / Civilians will be paid in their mid period paycheck. Your support will help us in providing resources to members impacted by the shutdown. The attached 501(c) has the CPOA Zelle QR for easy donations. Please continue to support our local Coast Guardsmen and feel free to reach out with any questions about how you can help.

Last week, CPOA sent another letter to all members of Congress asking them to resolve the shutdown and pass the necessary appropriations to fund OUR Coast Guard - attached is the letter. We are asking that each of you reach out to your representatives to show your support. Contact information and sample letters can be found at www.uscgcpoa.org/legislative

Years in the making, thank you to all who assisted in this project!

There is a lot of relief amongst the Active Duty workforce! Our USCG Civilians are still without pay, and our Essential Employees are most impacted as they are still working alongside us. We are still collecting funds for our personnel and standing by to help as needed.

Today the Shutdown Fairness Act, to pay the military on November 1st, did not pass. It is unlikely that DoD and DHS Military personnel will be paid next week. Please continue to support our local Coast Guardsmen and feel free to reach out with any questions about how you can help.

There are lots of resources out there, thank you to all who are helping!

***Edit, Friday October 17: We've had to pause our applications as we've passed 50,000 families requesting support, we need to process the current demand and hope to build the resources to open applications again soon. Please check the latest posts on our page for updates***

When the government shuts down, families keep going.

Military families are navigating growing uncertainty, from questions about future pay & allowances to the strain of daily life without clear answers.

That’s why MFAN is stepping up to help.

Starting today, military families can visit militarymeals.org to sign up for a free grocery box and Commissary gift card, shipped directly to their home. Each box from Umoja Health is packed with care to feed a family of four for a week.

πŸ’™ Active-duty, Guard, and Reserve members can verify their affiliation through SheerID at militarymeals.org. Once verified, follow the prompts on screen or check your email (and spam folder) for your registration form.

We’re working hard to reach as many families as possible, so please submit only one request per household and share this link with anyone in your network who may need support.

At your table, we stand with you.

Thank you to the Senior Leaders that ensured our Active Duty workforce received their mid month paycheck. Until a budget is passed, the November 1st check is not guaranteed and our service members are still in need of support.

Troops are starting to get paid, but aren't out of the woods as the shutdown continues Troops reported receiving paychecks Tuesday after the Pentagon diverted funds to cover payroll during the government shutdown.

β€’ USAA: Qualifying members may be eligible for a paycheck loan to bridge the gap. Please note, this option does include a credit inquiry.
β€’ Navy Federal Credit Union: Also offering paycheck loans for qualifying members β€” reach out to your local branch or log into your account for details.
β€’ Coast Guard Mutual Assistance (CGMA): Shutdown loans are available to those in need. However, we kindly ask that members first explore options through USAA and Navy Fed, as CGMA funds are limited and we want to ensure help is available for all who truly need it.

For the last 233 the Coast Guard has been charged with safe guarding our nation's coasts. Beginning as the Revenue Cutter Service by means of β€œA few armed vessels, judiciously stationed at the entrances of our ports". (We do have to acknowledge that our Aides to Navigation mission goes back even further).

Happy Birthday Coast Guard, our nation's oldest sea service!
