Congratulations to NFBPA Greater Houston on 4 decades of leadership, service, and impact.
Today I had the privilege of presenting a proclamation along with Mayor Whitmire, recognizing the 40th Anniversary of the
National Forum for Black Public Administrators (NFBPA) Greater Houston Chapter.
For four decades, NFBPA Greater Houston has helped develop leaders, strengthen public service, and create pathways for excellence in local government and public administration.
Congratulations President Cherrelle Duncan and the executive committee for your service. Here’s to honoring the legacy you’ve built and inspiring the next generation of public sector leaders.

We dove into the Budget Survey Findings Highlights from the “Your Two Cents Budget Survey” and 45th Kinder Houston Area Survey.
Shout out to the 24 residents in District K that made time to participate in the budget process. Respondents were asked whether they would like to see the city spend more, spend less, or spend about the same on 13 categories of major city-provided programs and services.
The summary makes some interesting points.
If you are not receiving our District K newsletter, we need to fix that. Let’s keep working together to make our district and our city better. Let me know what stood out the most to you on each survey.
Check out the results from both here:https://www.houstontx.gov/council/committees/bfacommittee/202606/Your-Two-Cents-Kinder-2026.pdf

One of the things I value most about serving Houston is the opportunity to experience the world without ever leaving our city.
Tonight, I had the honor of representing the City of Houston at the Israeli Independence Day celebration.
Thank you to Consul General Livia Link-Raviv for the gracious invitation and for welcoming us into an evening that was both meaningful and celebratory.
Hearing the Texas Southern University Choir sing in Hebrew was most impressive.
Even in complex times, there is value in gathering, in listening and in choosing connection over distance.
That spirit of resilience, reflection, and hope was felt throughout the evening.
That’s part of what makes Houston special.

There is one less abandoned building creating nuisance in our community.
Today the Civic Club leaders and residents in Mayfair park joined Mayor Whitmire and me for a much needed demolition at 5634 Maywood Drive in Fort Bend, Houston. This house has been abandoned for at least 10 years and the neighbors were happy to see it come down.
Thank you to the Houston Contractors Association for their partnership along with Houston Public Works, Department of Neighborhoods and everyone who worked to get to this day.
The work continues and together, we’ll keep making District K better.
