Glenn H. McCarthy’s last surviving child has passed. I was so happy that I got to meet her, record her, and learn about the romantic times of the Shamrock Hotel. God speed, Leah! You were one in a million!

WHO IS THE HARRIS COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY?
The Harris County Historical Society (HCHS), founded in 1923, was the first county historical society established in response to the Texas State Historical Association’s (TSHA) call for local COUNTY HISTORIC organizations. TSHA president Adele Looscan played a direct role in its creation, making HCHS both the "first spring" of TSHA’s initiative and, in a way, its "child," nurtured by her vision and leadership.
We hope many of you will attend this event.
Sincerely,
Ann Dunphy Becker
Harris County Historical Society, President
