On Tuesday, we had the pleasure of presenting scholarship awards to outstanding students from Austin and Chávez High Schools, always one of the highlights of our Rotary year. 🎓

Our Scholarship Program continues to be the heart and soul of our club, with 85% of our fundraising efforts dedicated to supporting students from our three area high schools. This year, we were proud to award a total of $33,000 in scholarships to twelve deserving students.

It was wonderful to meet and celebrate these hardworking students and the bright futures ahead of them.

We also want to recognize and congratulate the Teachers of the Year:

Yesterday one of the most meaningful days of our Rotary year as we had the honor of awarding scholarships to five outstanding students from 🎓Charles H. Milby High School

Our Scholarship Program truly is the heart of our club, and it’s made possible by the generosity of those who believe in investing in our youth.

A very special thank you to our incredible supporters, Suzi and Bill Howe, whose generosity continues to make a lasting impact on these students’ futures.

We are also deeply grateful to Ken Stallman, whose ongoing support in honor of our dear friend Janice Jones keeps her legacy alive in such a meaningful way. 💙

Thank you to everyone who helped and donated — this would not be possible without you.

We also want to recognize the amazing teachers, counselors, and assistant principal who joined us, for their continued support of these students.

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of our President-Elect, Abel, who left us last night.

Abel had been a Rotarian for over 35 years and was a dedicated member of our club. He was truly loved by our Rotary family, and his presence, friendship, and commitment to service will be deeply missed. Abel Torres

Last week at Rotary, we welcomed Grant Sadler, Executive Chairman of Prospera Behavioral Health, who shared valuable insights on expanding access to quality mental health care in our community.

Prospera provides evidence-based services for children, teens, and adults — including therapy, psychological evaluations, and both in-person and telehealth options — with a focus on emotional regulation, anxiety, mood disorders, and overall well-being.

It was an important and timely conversation, and we appreciate Grant for helping us better understand the resources available to support mental health across all ages. As always, it was great to connect, learn, and share fellowship at Ninfa’s.
