ONGOING RESTORATION WORK REQUIRES CONTINUED ROAD AND SIDEWALK CLOSURES IN THE FOCUSED AREA OF DOWNTOWN.

PEDESTRIANS AND SIGHTSEERS ARE STILL STRONGLY CAUTIONED TO AVOID CLOSED STREETS WHERE FALLING GLASS REMAINS A CONCERN. The Houston Downtown Management District (HDMD) recognizes the need for a centralized coordination point in the event of an emergency, and have developed a Downtown Emergency Response Plan that describes the preparation and response scenarios for multiple potential emergency situations.

Ongoing restoration work requires continued road and sidewalk closures in the focused area of Downtown where window repairs are concentrated. Lamar Street From Fannin to Milam has reopened, and Travis from Dallas to Lamar has reopened.
Pedestrians and sightseers are still strongly cautioned to avoid closed streets where falling glass remains a concern, primarily in the southwest quadrant of Downtown, south of McKinney Street and west of Main.
Mayor Whitmire and Downtown Houston+ ask all non-essential personnel in the buildings within this exclusion area to work remotely through Memorial Day weekend.
Understandably, closures create traffic delays and frustration, but our continued cooperation enables restoration crews to stabilize buildings faster and get all of Downtown back in business as soon as possible.

The National Weather Service (NWS) is warning of danger from high temperatures this week and into the weekend. Temperatures could reach or exceed 102 degrees beginning today. The Harris County Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Management urges all residents to take simple steps to keep themselves safe through this weekend and the rest of the summer season.
