The Fort Bend County Veteran Service Office had the honor of speaking with the Veterans of Pilgrim Journey Baptist Church in Richmond on May 27, 2026, during the inaugural Veterans Helping Veterans Ministry. The event provided Veterans with valuable opportunities for peer-to-peer support, community connection, and access to local resources designed to enhance their quality of life. Attendees also received important information regarding VA benefits and services available to them and their families. We extend our sincere appreciation to Pastor Robert Simpson Jr. and Mr. Marcus Bell for their leadership, vision, and dedication to building a stronger network of support for Veterans throughout our community.

County Judge Daniel Wong Leads Election Operations Review

Richmond, TX – Following the disruption in voting during Tuesday’s Primary Runoff Election, Fort Bend County Judge Daniel Wong announced that he is leading the charge for a full review of processes, procedures, and policies in Fort Bend County’s Elections Administration office.

During Tuesday’s voting, a routine update of voter data was performed by an employee of the Elections Administration office, but the wrong voter data file was selected and uploaded. This led to an issue with the electronic poll book and a number of voters being unable to check in under normal procedures. As a standard
practice, voters with check-in issues are provided a provisional ballot in order to vote. The error only affected the poll books and the ability to check in and did not affect voting machines, the ballot, tabulation data, or the vote count.

On Thursday, County Judge Wong held a meeting with Elections Administrator Chase Wilson to address the incident and to set up a framework for a full review of the elections office.

“The meeting with Mr. Wilson was quite productive,” said County Judge Wong. “I, along with all the voters of Fort Bend County, must feel confident that every election held in this county is smooth, accurate, secure, and in compliance with the law.”

County Judge Wong has directed Mr. Wilson and the Elections Administration office to participate in bi-weekly meetings designed to provide updates on process reviews, potential software upgrades, and preparations for the November elections.

“I felt the meeting went very well and was very productive,” Mr. Wilson said. “I appreciate the openness of the discussion as well as the responsiveness and respect offered by everyone on Judge Wong’s team.”

As part of County Judge Wong’s review mandate, Mr. Wilson committed to adjusting workflows and implementing additional oversight of the poll book process. Mr. Wilson added that, in consultation with the vendor, safeguards will be developed to prevent a similar incident from happening again.

Fort Bend County Judge Daniel Wong highlights the fourth pillar of his blueprint for “Building a Budget that Works for Fort Bend County”: Transparent Leadership.
Transparent Leadership means residents deserve clear communication, open decision-making, and honest dialogue about both challenges and priorities.

What This Means:

• Openness and accountability
• Public engagement
• Accessible information
• Clear communication
• Trust through transparency

County Judge Wong believes trust in government begins with openness, accountability, and keeping residents informed every step of the way.
