The Friendswood Police Department is aware that the lights at the intersection of W. Parkwood Dr. and Friendswood Pkwy. are currently blinking red. TXDOT has been notified. Treat the intersection as a four way stop.

Additional showers and thunderstorms expected tomorrow. High rainfall rates and saturated soils will lead to another threat of flash flooding across the area, especially eastern areas along the coast.

Are your Alerts on? Flood Awareness Week is the perfect time to check.

Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEAs) are short emergency messages authorities can send to any WEA-enabled mobile device in a locally targeted area. Alerting authorities who are authorized to send WEAs include state, local, tribal, and territorial public safety officials, the National Weather Service, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the President of the United States.

For Apple iPhones:
1. On your iPhone, open the Settings app, then tap Notifications.

2. Scroll to the bottom of the screen.

3. Under Government Affairs, Emergency Alerts should say "On". If not, tap Emergency Alerts arrow. Tap the Emergency Alerts switch so it is on the right side and green. Ensure Always Play Sound switch is on the right side and green. If not, tap the Always Play Sound switch so it is on the right side and green.

4. Tap the back arrow.

5. Ensure Public Safety Alerts switch is on the right side and green. If not, tap the Public Safety Alerts switch so it is on the right side and green.

6. Ensure the Test Alerts switch is on the right side and green. If not, tap the Test Alerts switch so it is on the right side and green.

For Android Phones:
1. Open the Settings app by tapping the gear icon on your home screen or app drawer.

2. Go to Safety and emergency > Wireless emergency alerts.

3. Enable the alerts you want by using the toggles to adjust your wireless emergency alert settings.

Instructions may vary depending on your phone. For other questions, please refer to your mobile phone carrier and/or mobile phone manufacturer’s website.
