Got a TFS grant? Do the weight math before you pick the truck. 🚒

Gary Morrison of MX4 Texas breaks down why the chassis matters:

• F-350 dually: 11,900 lb GVWR minus ~8,300 lb curb weight = ~3,600 lb payload. A flatbed, 200-gal tank, pump, hose reel and compartments use up almost all of it.
• F-450: ~5,300 lb of capacity, enough for 350 gallons of water
• F-550: 19,500 lb GVWR, very safely 450 gallons, with room for a bigger bed and more compartments
• Changing wheels or tires? Check the load rating, or you lose payload.

Stay under the weight rating. The truck will handle it… until something happens.
