The Academy is aimed at bridging the gap that sometimes exist between police officers and the community they serve.
Participants are given a “behind the badge” look at law enforcement from the perspective of the patrol officer. They learn firsthand what it’s like to face some of the challenges today’s officers deal with, while at the same time expressing their own thoughts and concerns.

The Precinct 5 Citizens Police Academy is just one of the new community outreach incentives unveiled at the most recent Community Liaison Annual Meeting. Interest has been high with both classes scheduled for this year filling up quickly and more classes planned for 2016.
