It was a joy to gather with artists, partners, and community members to reflect on 40 years of collaboration with Mid-America Arts Alliance and to highlight the creative work that continues to strengthen connection and well-being across the region.

We were especially honored to share artwork created by participants in CHAT and to celebrate the women who brought these stories to life. Moments like these remind us how powerful creative practice can be in supporting health, connection, and belonging.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month!

Taking time to care for your mental health can look different for everyone. Whether it’s making art, sewing, painting, spending time with loved ones, or simply slowing down for a moment, we encourage everyone to make space for activities that bring peace, comfort, and joy.

Recently, CHAT participants came together for a flower-making activity filled with creativity, conversation, and connection.

We're so grateful to have participated in Citizenship Navigator training with FAM Houston.

We covered topics like building meaningful connections, understanding the naturalization process, eligibility requirements, cultural sensitivity, and confidentiality.

Collage has a way of saying putting the pieces together when life is messy. ✂️

Recently our Women's Circle gathered for a photo workshop. They cut, layered, arranged elements to build part art that archives their lives.

Ask a child what they want to paint and they'll never hesitate. They don't second-guess themselves.

Our kids came in after school this week and filled page after page with color, landscapes stretching to the edges, and whole worlds pulled straight from their imaginations. 🧠💡

Our Women's Circle gathered this week with rope and patience and each other. Somewhere in the rhythm of tying knots, pulling hand over hand, and sometimes starting over, we connected with eachother.

Macramé teaches you that the process is the point. That your hands learn patterns that your mind hasn't caught up to yet.

Art sees us. And sometimes that's exactly what we need.

The Women's Circle visited the Houston Center for Photography to view work honoring the women who built it over 45 years of vision, courage, and art that refuses to look away from the vastness of girlhood and womanhood.

It's so important to set aside time for self care. 💜 Our Women's Circle sat together and used collage materials to depict what self care looks like to them.

What does self care look like for you?
