💙💚💜 Happy Early Childhood Educator & Child Care Worker Appreciation Day!

How lucky are we to have such a wonderful group of staff who show up each day to care for, teach, and support some of the most important little people in our lives!

Last night, after working a full day caring for our kiddos, our staff came back together for a CFRM training from 6:30–8:00 PM! We enjoyed some soup for supper, learned some valuable information, and participated in a fun, hands-on activity together.

I am so appreciative of our team and their willingness to continue learning and growing. Working with children ages 0–4 is no small job, and there is so much more that goes into early childhood education than most people realize. Our staff puts in the time, effort, patience, and love each and every day, and I couldn’t be more thankful for them!

A huge thank you to April and the entire team at CFRM, SDSU, and Coaching to Quality Care! We are incredibly fortunate to have coaches like Deb Owens, trainers, and resources like you supporting early childhood educators. April and Deb thank you for continuing to work alongside our staff, sharing your knowledge, and helping us become better educators. The work you all do behind the scenes to support childcare programs like ours does not go unnoticed!

And to everyone working in early childhood education, whether you’re in a childcare center, in-home daycare, preschool, or working as a nanny, THANK YOU! Your work matters, your dedication matters, and the difference you make in children’s lives every single day matters.

🌸 Happy Boss’s Day! Meet Our Director! 🌸

Since today is Boss’s Day, I thought it would be fun to share a little about myself and what my days look like behind the scenes at Children’s Care Corner!

☕ A little about me!

Hi! I’m Abby Anderberg-Kramer, and I’ve had the privilege of serving as Director of Children’s Care Corner for the past three years!

Outside of CCC, I’m a wife, mom of four, avid coffee and Diet Coke drinker, and a HUGE book lover! Historical fiction is my favorite, and I love learning about history. Between my kids’ activities, sports, and being involved in our little community, life is always busy!

🌿 What does a daycare director actually do?

Some days I think that’s a great question myself! 😂

My job involves a little bit of everything! From managing staff schedules, payroll, budgets, licensing, grants, training, and quality improvement programs to planning activities, organizing fundraisers, ordering supplies, helping in classrooms, and keeping our center running smoothly.

One minute I might be working on paperwork, the next I’m comforting a crying child, helping a teacher, cleaning up a mess, or answering a parent’s question. There really is never a dull moment!

📱 A little humor!

My phone might have 42 missed calls, 50 text messages and an inbox full of emails, but at the end of the day, I wouldn’t trade it!

Being responsible for 64 CCC kiddos, over 30 summer camp kiddos, 24 staff members, and over 100 parents is no small task! That’s a whole lot of personalities, questions, schedules, needs, and moving parts to keep up with!

It takes a lot to keep the wheels turning at a childcare center, but apparently, it takes even more to keep up with all the texts, calls, and emails! 😂

All jokes aside, being someone that so many children, families, and staff can count on is one of the things I cherish most about being Director. Also, when in doubt, message again. 😅

❤️ What I love most about my job

Without a doubt, it’s the relationships I’ve built with our children, families, and staff.

I’ve always had a passion for early childhood education, but even more than that, I love being someone families can count on. Whether it’s helping a child through a difficult stage, connecting parents with resources, advocating for a child’s needs, or simply being an extra person in their village, that’s the part of my job that means the most to me.

I also love watching my staff grow in their careers, gain confidence, and accomplish goals they once thought were out of reach. Being a director isn’t just about managing a building. It’s about supporting the people inside it.

👶🏻👧🏻🧒🏼👦🏽

Being the boss isn’t always easy, and some days are definitely more chaotic than others, but I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished together. I couldn’t do any of it without the wonderful staff who show up every day and give so much of themselves to our kiddos.

At the end of the day, my favorite part of being a director has never been the title. It’s being a part of something that makes a difference in the lives of children and families in our community.

Happy Boss’s Day to all the hardworking bosses out there! 💚

🎉 Children’s Care Corner has officially achieved LEVEL 3! 🎉

And even more exciting, we are one of the FIRST childcare centers in the state of South Dakota to achieve Level 3 in the Quality Care South Dakota (QCSD) program! ❤️

This is a HUGE accomplishment for our center and something we are incredibly proud of!

Our Director, Abby, and Summer Assistant Director, Madison, dedicated much of their summer to completing Level 3. Between updating policies, completing additional trainings, gathering documentation, and working through all the requirements, a lot of time and hard work went into reaching this goal. We are so grateful for their dedication and passion for continuing to improve our center for the children, families, and staff we serve!

A special thank you to our lead teachers, Lisa, Allison, Stephanie, and Mishelle, for the extra work, training, and time they committed to helping us accomplish Level 3. We couldn’t have done it without their willingness to go above and beyond!

Abby has worked through the original Quality Care pilot program and successfully completed Levels 1, 2, and now 3. Each level has brought new goals, improvements, and opportunities for our center to grow.

There is so much work that happens behind the scenes that families may never see, but it all plays a part in providing the best possible care for our children.

Being one of the first childcare centers in South Dakota to reach Level 3 is something special, especially for our small-town center! We are proud of how far CCC has come and thankful to have such a dedicated group of people who care about the future of early childhood education in our community.

Thank you to our staff, families, and community for your continued support! ❤️

We have one level left to accomplish, hopefully to add to our wall of certificates! 👏🏻👏🏻

Our babies spend lots of time in their book nook! 📚💙

Did you know that ages 0–4 are some of the biggest years for brain development? Simply reading to little ones helps build their vocabulary, language, listening skills, and imagination.

Even our littlest babies benefit from hearing stories, looking at pictures, and turning pages. Those simple moments with books are helping build skills they’ll use for years to come!

It’s never too early to start reading! 📖❤️

On Monday, we celebrated one of our favorite traditions, Grandparents Day! 🤍

We started this tradition about three years ago, and it continues to be such a special afternoon. We are so thankful for all of the children, staff, and grandparents who braved the rainy weather to join us at the park!

A special thank you to our wonderful cook, Julie, for the homemade cookies and to Rusty’s for the delicious mixed fruit! 🍪🍓

Most of all, thank you to all of the grandparents who continue to pour so much love, wisdom, and joy into the lives of their grandchildren. The bond between grandparents and grandchildren is truly something special, and we feel so lucky to celebrate it together. ❤️

This Wednesday, the CCC took some time to celebrate a few of our lead teachers and recognize their exceptional dedication to our center and the children they care for each day!

💛 Miss Allison - Cheers to FIVE Years!
Miss Allison recently celebrated her 5-year anniversary at the CCC! As our Toddler Lead Teacher, Allison brings smiles, positivity, and a ray of sunshine into our center each day. The calmness and patience she brings while caring for a room full of busy toddlers is truly something to admire. We are incredibly lucky to have her leading our toddler room.

Cheers to 5 years, Miss Allison! We are so happy to have you! 🥳

🍎 Congratulations, Miss Stephanie & Miss Mishelle!
Recently, Miss Stephanie and Miss Mishelle completed their CDA journeys and officially earned their Child Development Associate (CDA) credentials!

Stephanie and Mishelle both joined the CCC in the spring of 2025, and we are incredibly proud of everything they have accomplished since. Together, they have helped bring a cherished, structured preschool program back to the CCC for our 3- and 4-year-olds.

Both bring genuine confidence, happiness, patience, and an understanding of early childhood education into their classroom each day. It is so much fun hearing the laughter, seeing the children’s artwork, and listening to their songs when walking past the preschool classroom! ❤️

To celebrate these three wonderful teachers and their accomplishments, we enjoyed a well-deserved supper together at The Broadwater in Madison!

Please help us give Miss Allison, Miss Stephanie, and Miss Mishelle a huge round of applause! 👏

🎉 A VERY SPECIAL CONGRATULATIONS TO MISS STEPHANIE! 🎉

We are so excited to announce that Miss Stephanie has officially received her CDA Credential! 💜💚

We are incredibly proud of Stephanie and all the hard work she put into earning this accomplishment. Her patience, kindness, dedication, and genuine excitement for teaching are just a few of the many reasons we are so grateful to have her at Children’s Care Corner.

Miss Stephanie and Miss Mishelle will continue leading our preschool program together, using a curriculum created right here at CCC by Stephanie, Mishelle, and Abby. Their dedication to creating a fun, meaningful, and educational preschool experience for our kiddos has been incredible to watch.

With Stephanie earning her CDA, we are especially proud to now have three credentialed preschool teachers at Children’s Care Corner!

Stephanie and Mishelle have both put so much time and effort into completing their CDA credentials while continuing to show up every day for our children. We truly couldn’t ask for more compassionate and dedicated staff members.

Congratulations, Miss Stephanie! We are SO proud of you! If you see her this week, please help us congratulate her on this well-deserved accomplishment!

🍎✏️ FIRST DAY OF CCC PRESCHOOL! ✏️🍎

Our three- and four-year-olds officially kicked off their preschool year today, and we had such a great first morning! ❤️

We started with circle time and the Pledge of Allegiance, then moved into painting with Q-tips while working on our “S” sound. We got our bodies moving with some fun movement and dances, ended our group time with positive affirmations, and then rotated through our learning centers!

After centers, we came back together to talk about our classroom expectations, what it means to be a kind friend, and how we can take care of ourselves, our friends, and our classroom. We finished our morning with a walk down the street for some recess and fresh air! ☀️

We are SO excited to see what this group of three- and four-year-olds brings to CCC Preschool this year! 🥰

A huge round of applause to Miss Mishelle and Miss Stephanie for the patience, guidance, encouragement, and love they give our kiddos as they learn and grow. We are so appreciative of everything you put into making preschool a positive and exciting experience for them.

Here’s to a wonderful preschool year full of learning, friendships, growth, and LOTS of fun! 📚🖍️❤️
