Congratulations to our very own executive board member, Detective Rich Robertiello on this awesome achievement. This one required a substantial investment of time and effort. The residents of Howell Township can sleep a little easier knowing that Rich is on the case. Congratulations on the accomplishment!

We are proud to share a major professional milestone within our department! Detective Richard Robertiello has officially earned the Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) credential from the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE). Detective Robertiello is the first Detecive in Howell Police history to achieve this designation.

The CFE is globally recognized as the gold standard in anti-fraud expertise. To earn this designation, Detective Robertiello passed the newly updated, rigorous 3-part CFE examination, demonstrating mastery across Fraud Schemes & Financial Crimes, Fraud Investigations & Legal Issues, and Fraud Prevention & Deterrence. Preparation for the tests included over 2,000 pages of study material and 1300 study questions. Upon passing the test the ACFE verifies all information submitted by the applicant prior to approving the CFE designation, including proof of education, work experience, and professional recommendations, to ensure that all the necessary qualifications for the CFE credential have been met.

Earning the CFE credential requires not only deep specialized knowledge of complex financial schemes, but also strict adherence to ethical standards and continuous education in modern investigative methodologies. Having a dedicated CFE on our force elevates our department's ability to tackle sophisticated financial cases head-on, trace illicit funds efficiently, and build strong cases for prosecution.

The Howell police remain committed to the prevention, detection, and enforcement of financial crimes. The patrol division is well prepared and has assisted the Detective Bureau with many sting operations to apprehend subjects engaging in financial crimes. Prior to earning the CFE, Det. Robertiello has hosted 10 Financial Prevention seminars within our community with more to come. 10 days ago we hosted the 28th Annual George Garo Memorial Vest and Safety Fund Golf Outing. Thank you to Eagle Oaks for hosting us and to all our sponsor and golfers for your support. But this post is really about giving thanks to the man that has made this event possible for almost 30 years. Words and Facebook posts cannot explain the level of gratitude we have to James Kirk. Jimmy thank you for the support, thank you for the longevity and commitment, thank you for everything you’ve done for us over the years, but most importantly thank you for the friendship, relationship, and memories we’ve built together for all these years. Eternally grateful!

Due to the poor weather forecast for tomorrow, the Howell Township PBA’s George Garo Memorial Vest and Safety Fund Golf Outing at Eagle Oaks Golf and Country Club has been postponed. Our new event date is Monday July 13th.
