🚒 WHESTONE FIRE DISTRICT CREW DEPLOYED TO CALIFORNIA WILDFIRES 🔥

Please join us in recognizing four of our own who are currently serving on assignment with the Arizona State Task Force (AZS3) alongside personnel from St. Johns Fire, Tri City Fire, Mayer Fire, and Mohave Fire.

Our Whetstone Fire District crew was originally assigned to the Cleveland National Forest and was previously dispatched to the Bouquet Fire, which burned approximately 1,000 acres. They are now assigned to the Danny Fire, which was reported at approximately 150 acres a few days ago and is currently 96% contained.

Representing Whetstone Fire District on this assignment are:

Captain Daniel Speer
Captain Kenneth Spencer
Firefighter William Moreno
Firefighter Salvador Estrella

Wildland fire assignments require tremendous dedication, teamwork, endurance, and sacrifice. These firefighters are away from home, working alongside crews from across the region to protect lives, property, and natural resources.

We are incredibly proud of these four members of our Whetstone Fire District family for answering the call and representing our district and community with professionalism and commitment. Their service is a reminder of the courage and dedication it takes to be a firefighter, especially when the call for help takes them far from home.

Please join us in wishing our crew and all firefighters on the line safe operations, strength, and a safe return home.

To our firefighters: Thank you for your service, your sacrifices, and for representing Whetstone Fire District with pride. Our community is behind you every step of the way!

STAY SAFE OUT THERE!

Today was a very successful training day with our partners at SSVEC, Fry Fire District, Arizona LifeLine, Cochise County Sheriff's Office - Mark J. Dannels Sheriff, Huachuca City Police Department, and SEACOM 911. This large-scale exercise brought together utility providers, dispatch, law enforcement, air ambulance crews, medical personnel, and rescue teams to tackle a complex incident scenario.

Exercises like this strengthen relationships, improve communication and interoperability, and reinforce the integration of our command structures. None of this would have been possible without the extensive planning, coordination, and support of everyone involved.

Thank you to all our partner agencies and participants for helping make this training a success. We are proud to be part of such a strong regional team, working together to keep our communities safe.

Everything is getting set for a Large-Scale Training Exercise that we will be hosting tomorrow at our training ground located at 108 Via Guamachil from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM!

This combined drill will involve SSVEC, Fry Fire District, Arizona LifeLine, SEACOM, Cochise County Sheriff's Office, and your very own Whetstone Fire District.

The scenario will be a motor vehicle collision involving high-voltage energized equipment and will require coordinated efforts among all participating agencies.

Please be advised that Via Guamachil, east of Calle Segundo, will be closed, and no through traffic will be allowed during the exercise. A second area on Firehouse Lane will also be closed to traffic during the air operations portion of the drill.

We will have a designated spectator area marked off; however, space will be limited.

We appreciate your patience and support as we conduct this important training exercise to enhance emergency response capabilities in our community.
