I’m not myself right now.
My heart and soul don’t know what to feel. One minute I’m smiling and laughing, and the next minute I zone out, overthink, and question everything while holding back tears. I want to feel better already, but in reality, I’m breaking. I keep pretending I’m fine, forcing a smile so no one notices the storm raging inside me. It’s exhausting — trying to keep it all together when I feel like falling apart at any moment. There’s this constant heaviness in my chest, like I’m carrying a weight no one else can see. I keep asking myself why I feel this way, why everything suddenly feels so overwhelming when I should be okay. But I’m not.
It’s like my mind is my worst enemy, replaying every mistake, every loss, every moment I wish I could change. I try to silence the thoughts, but they always find a way back in, louder than before. I feel disconnected — from myself, from the people around me, from the world. I laugh in conversations, but my mind drifts away, lost in a sea of “what ifs” and “whys.” Sometimes I just sit there, staring into nothing, wishing someone could see through the fake composure and ask if I’m truly okay.
I crave peace — the kind that quiets the chaos inside, the kind that lets me breathe without feeling like I’m drowning. I miss the version of me that was genuinely happy, that didn’t have to fake being okay. I want to find that person again, but it feels like they’ve been gone for too long. Maybe healing isn’t supposed to be fast or easy. Maybe it’s messy, painful, and full of days where you feel like giving up. But deep down, I still have this tiny flicker of hope — that one day, I’ll wake up and my smile will be real again. That the laughter won’t feel forced, and the tears won’t be hiding behind my eyes. Until then, I’ll keep trying. I’ll keep holding on, even when it hurts, because I know somewhere inside me, there’s still a piece that refuses to let go — a piece that still believes in better days.
