Our thoughts and prayers are with the Smith family and our Brothers and sisters at the Hudson Volunteer Fire Department

Hudson VFD has lost a great friend, a brother, and a longtime member of our department, Mike “Big Mike” Smith.

Mike passed away last night following a medical emergency. He dedicated more than 30 years of his life to the fire department and was a huge part of our annual Haunted House for more than 25 years. His dedication, friendship, and countless contributions to our department and community will never be forgotten.

Mike will be dearly missed by all of us who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside him.

Please keep Mike’s family, friends, and the entire Hudson VFD family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Rest easy, brother. We’ll take it from here. 🚒❤️

THINK YOU KNOW WHAT SEARCH & RESCUE IS?

SAR is about so much more than searching.

When you join, you learn skills you may never have imagined: 🚁 helicopter operations, 🩺 medical response, 🧭 navigation, 📻 communications, wilderness rescue skills and so much more.

But one of the best parts? The people.
You train to be capable out there on your own, but the truth is, you’re never really alone. You have a team beside you. People who teach you, challenge you, have your back and help you get through the tough stuff.

You come into SAR looking to help others, and along the way, you learn a lot about yourself, too.

Curious about what SAR is really like? Come check us out! Join us at a meeting, meet the team, ask questions and see if it might be for you.

You might just discover something you didn’t know you were looking for.

What a great day, thank you to everyone who came out to visit with us and eat some great food. The silent auction was great and lots of great items were auctioned off.

We cannot express how thankful we are for the support we receive.

Huge shout out to all the SAR Team members both past and present who participated and made this a wonderful 30th Anniversary.
