Farmers and ranchers work long hours of intense physical labor, with high risk of injury, while facing social and geographic isolation. Extreme weather, natural disasters, crop and animal diseases are some of their issues yet every day, they show up to provide food, fuel, and fiber for our nation.

𝐀𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐞 𝐍𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 is a national 501©3 non-profit that educates healthcare professionals and agricultural communities about important health and safety information for those working in agriculture, fishing, and forestry. They bring together national experts to develop educational materials that can be delivered both digitally and in-person.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐇𝐞𝐥𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞 is a 24/7/365 su***de crisis and resource line for people working in the agriculture, fishing, and logging industries. It is currently available in 11 states: AZ, CO, CT, MO, MT, OR, PA, TX, VA, WA, and WY

BE AWARE and spread the word to anyone you know that may have purchased Ma*****na Vaporizer Delivery Devices produced by Staycon LLC, doing business as CRAFT.

The Colorado Department of Revenue and the Department of Public Health and Environment deem it a threat to public health and safety when ingredients used in the manufacture of Regulated Ma*****na are found to contain methylene chloride. This advisory includes Production Batches that were found to have been produced using an ingredient that contained methylene chloride.

METHYLENE CHLORIDE can result in harm to the central nervous system, or neurotoxicity. Effects of longer periods of exposure (chronic) includes liver toxicity, liver cancer, and lung cancer.

📢 WIC CLIENT REMINDER

Lincoln County Public Health would like to remind our WIC clients that Kit Carson County is currently handling all WIC services for Lincoln County until further notice.

We have received several phone calls regarding WIC services recently and wanted to make sure everyone is aware of this temporary change.

If you need assistance with a WIC appointment, benefits, questions, or other WIC-related needs, please contact Kit Carson County WIC at this time.

We appreciate your patience and understanding while this temporary arrangement is in place. We will share an update when Lincoln County Public Health resumes WIC services locally.

📵 A friendly reminder to please put the phone down while driving—especially around the fairgrounds.

Yesterday, one of our staff members had to pull into the ditch to avoid a driver pulling a livestock trailer who was distracted by their phone. Thankfully, everyone was okay, but it was a scary reminder of how quickly something can happen.

The fairgrounds are extra busy right now with children, families, animals, trailers, pedestrians, and vehicles all moving through the area. Please slow down, stay alert, and wait until you are safely parked before checking your phone.

We all want everyone to enjoy the Lincoln County Fair and make it home safely. Let’s look out for one another and keep our community safe! ❤️

☀️ ONCE AGAIN, we have a Heat Advisory for Lincoln County! ☀️

High temperatures are expected across Lincoln County, and much of Colorado! It is important to take steps to protect yourself, your family, and your animals from heat-related illness.

🌡️ Stay Safe in the Heat:

💧 Drink plenty of water—even if you don’t feel thirsty. It will help keep you from getting headaches or light headed.

🧢 Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing and a hat.

🌳 Limit outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day (typically 10a.m.–6 p.m.).Typically 3-6pm for Lincoln County,CO

🧴 Use sunscreen and take frequent breaks in the shade or air conditioning. RE APPLY often!

👶👴 Check on children, older adults, and neighbors who may be more vulnerable.

🚗 Never leave children or pets in a parked vehicle—NOT EVEN FOR A FEW MINUTES!!!

🐴 PROTECT YOUR ANIMALS:

💦 Make sure fresh, cool water is available at all times.

🌳 Provide plenty of shade and good ventilation and if possible bring them inside during the hottest part of the day.

🐄 Avoid working or transporting livestock during the hottest part of the day whenever possible.

🐕 Walk pets early in the morning or later in the evening, and avoid hot pavement that can burn their paws.

🐓 Watch for signs of heat stress, including excessive panting, drooling, weakness, or lethargy.

Contact a veterinarian if you suspect heat illness.

Heat-related illnesses can happen quickly—but they are preventable. A few simple precautions can help keep everyone safe during this stretch of hot weather.
