The same Blood Bank that supplies Madison County EMS and Oglethorpe County EMS is the Blood Bank Hull Fire is doing the Blood Drive for this Saturday Check out our page and sign up for a time to come donate!
Last night, our team ran our first emergency blood product administration for a patient in severe hypovolemic shock—and I’m so grateful to report a major win. The patient was stabilized before arrival to the emergency department. Supervisor Heather Stanley, Paramedic Katie Pierce, and Paramedic Andy Booth recognized the immediate need for pre-hospital blood products.
When a patient loses a critical volume of blood, every single second counts. Watching those vitals stabilize and seeing the immediate, life-saving impact of blood resuscitation in real-time is a powerful reminder of why we do what we do.
Why Blood Donation Matters
There is no synthetic substitute: Human blood cannot be manufactured in a lab. Real patients rely entirely on the generosity of real people.
Immediate availability saves lives: In trauma and shock scenarios, blood products must already be sitting in the bank, tested, and ready to go.
One donation touches multiple lives: A single whole blood donation can be separated into red cells, plasma, and platelets, helping up to three different patients.
If you’ve been thinking about donating, please take this as your sign. Somewhere in a trauma bay, ICU, or operating room, a patient is waiting for the exact lifeline you have the power to give.
Local blood drives have been scheduled in October and November. We will have exact dates and times in the near future.
