The Madison County School System, in collaboration with Reader Nation, is offering FREE workshops for parents and caregivers of children birth to 5, on Saturday, November 7th at 9:30am and 10:30am. Choose the start time that works best for you and join us at the Board of Education Building (800 Madison Street, Danielsville) to learn simple, everyday habits that support literacy, and practice fun, back-and-forth conversation with your baby or child! Each parent and child will receive a new book and resources. Before or after the workshop, also plan to visit the Chamber of Commerce Harvest Festival at the Ag Building.

On Wednesday, Mrs. Edwards and Mrs. Welch took their classes out into the community for some hands-on learning! 🛒

The students headed to Dollar Tree with shopping lists they created themselves, practicing real-world skills like locating items, comparing prices, waiting in line, and paying for their purchases. Of course, they also showed off their very best manners! 😊

After shopping, they headed to McDonald’s, where they continued practicing making choices, using table manners, and paying for their meals.

Our students represented themselves, their teachers, and Husky Nation so well, and we couldn’t be prouder! 🐾❤️

But here’s the best part! While at Dollar Tree, they encountered a retired teacher from another school district who was so impressed by their kindness and respectfulness that she took the time to call our school the following afternoon to share how wonderful they were. She even commented that she wished she had had students like ours when she was teaching!

Now THAT is something to celebrate! 🎉 Our Huskies aren’t just learning important life skills; they’re showing the community what it means to be kind, respectful leaders. Way to go, Huskies! 🐾

🐷🐰🚜 Our Kindergarten Book Tasting! 📚🍎

Our Kindergarten students had a farm-tastic time participating in a book tasting to explore the exciting new books we’ll be reading in our upcoming Arts & Letters module, Once Upon a Farm!

As we sampled snacks inspired by each book, our little readers practiced sharing what they noticed and wondered about the stories. We loved seeing their curiosity, excitement, and thoughtful conversations as they explored each new adventure!

We can’t wait to dive into these stories and learn all about the amazing animals, people, and machines on the farm!

Learning is always sweeter when we add a little taste of adventure!

Our annual canned food drive runs from Monday, October 19th, through Friday, October 30th. All donations benefit the Madison County Food Bank. Examples of donations include
Cereal (any brand or type)

Easy Breakfast items (Pop-Tarts, cereal bars, etc.)

Breakfast Foods (Jelly, PB&J, syrup, pancake mix)

Instant potatoes and gravy mix

Canned meats, vegetables, fruits, and soups

Protein Shakes (Boost, Ensure, etc. - vanilla, strawberry, or chocolate)
