At Baldwin Boettcher Library we have a writing group called Word Crafters that has been meeting weekly for over 14 years, and we do prompts to encourage writing and exercise our creative muscles. So, we thought it would be nice to start sharing some of the prompt responses. This week one of the prompts was to look around the conference room and library for random words on displays, signs, or books to write down and then create a short poem or story with all the words. Everyone did a wonderful job and here they are for you to enjoy.
The plants are ancient
But I lift and gather them
No crime breaking the law
I see life as a success
As I pull them from the grassy terrain
They escape the confines
And become fuel for further success
That spark,
The lucky break that created this
Our clues coming embedded in amber
And people like me submit to the sun
The same sun that offers the very life
That pulls me into this daily performance
And hunt for reprieve from the heat.

I hereby declare that what women wear
Is not quite as interesting as when they go bare.

She Is All That
Captivating is the beauty of women
Her strength endures without thought
Her flesh and blood is like fire to a dragon
She escapes the jagged terrain of life
To exist and become a celebrated writer
Not trampled, snared or caught
By the plan of a sullen man
As a Phoenix is reborn so is she
Soaring from the ashes
Ascending towards what comes next
