Mental illness doesn’t always look like struggle. Sometimes, it can hide behind success, strength and achievement.
On Oct. 12, former Iowa State basketball standout, Lyndsey Fennelly shared her personal journey in her talk titled, Hope and Healing: Winning the Battle No One Sees. While in Humboldt, she encouraged employees from Corn Belt Power’s member systems to:
• prioritize mental health and well-being
• embrace vulnerability and
• recognize that asking for help is a sign of strength
Just as physical safety is essential, so too is mental well-being, which plays a critical role in helping people stay healthy, focused and supported.
Fennelly, an All-American, Hall-of-Famer, coach and entrepreneur, knows the demands of high performance and her message ripples far beyond the basketball court.
Thank you, Lyndsey, for sharing your story, leading an engaging workshop and encouraging attendees to make mental well-being a normal priority.
It’s been said that the stigma of mental illness survives on silence.
