SCAM WARNING
The public is hereby advised: Numerous county planning agencies in Pennsylvania have learned that scammers are posing as them by sending phony letters or e-mail messages urging recipients to settle bogus debts or pay purportedly government-related fees and invoices. We were notified of two such scams purporting to come from our office this week.
In some cases— Scammers are gleaning victims’ information from government documents, meeting minutes, or recent subdivision and development applications in the public domain.
If an invoice or fee request does not come on official County Office letterhead or a known County Staffer’s legitimate e-mail address, then the message is a scam.
Individuals may call our Office (814-643-5091) to verify the legitimacy of any quoted fee or invoice. Legitimate Staff e-mails end in huntingdoncountypa.gov.
The official Fee Schedule for the Huntingdon County Planning Commission is included on our Subdivision and Land Development Application. We do not charge fees for anything except review of subdivisions and land developments.
Individuals are advised to check with the appropriate agency office before paying any fee or invoice allegedly quoted by a government authority.
