🚒 EXCITING NEWS FOR HUNTINGTON TOWNSHIP FIRE DEPARTMENT! 🚒

We are proud to announce that Huntington Township Fire Department has been awarded a $15,000 grant from Norfolk Southern through its Safety First Grant Program!

This generous funding will support the purchase of essential firefighting and rescue equipment for our frontline fire apparatus, helping us strengthen emergency response capabilities, improve firefighter safety, and better protect the residents of Huntington Township and the surrounding communities.

Norfolk Southern's Safety First Grant Program supports first responders and initiatives that promote public safety, emergency preparedness, and community resilience.

As a volunteer fire department, opportunities like this make a tremendous difference. This investment will help ensure our firefighters have the tools and resources necessary to respond safely and effectively when our community needs us most.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Norfolk Southern for recognizing our commitment to public safety and investing in the community we proudly serve.

🔥 OCTOBER IS FIRE PREVENTION MONTH 🔥

October is a great time to make sure your home and family are prepared before an emergency happens. A few simple steps today can make a lifesaving difference when seconds count.

🚨 Check your smoke alarms
Test every smoke alarm in your home. Make sure you have working alarms on every level, inside each bedroom, and outside sleeping areas. Replace batteries when needed and replace smoke alarms that are more than 10 years old.

🧯 Have a fire extinguisher
Keep an extinguisher somewhere accessible—especially near the kitchen, garage, or workshop—and make sure everyone knows where it is located.

🏠 Make an escape plan
Every household should have a plan with at least two ways out whenever possible. Pick a meeting place outside and practice your plan with the entire family.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Talk to your kids
Teach children what a smoke alarm sounds like, how to get outside safely, and that they should never hide from firefighters.

🍳 Stay alert while cooking
Never leave cooking unattended, keep flammable items away from the stove, and keep children and pets away from the cooking area.

🔥 Heat your home safely
As colder weather arrives, keep anything that can burn at least 3 feet away from fireplaces, wood stoves, and space heaters.

🔌 Check cords and outlets
Replace damaged extension cords, don't overload outlets, and never run electrical cords underneath rugs or carpeting.

Fire prevention isn't complicated—it starts with small habits that help keep your family and home safe.

Throughout October, Huntington Township Fire Department encourages everyone in our community to take a few minutes to check their home, talk with their family, and make sure they're prepared.

Prevent the fire before we have to fight it.

All first responders come on over to Township Fire Saturday morning. This will be a great training and good way to get state skills and recert hours.

🚒 Field Trip Fun at Huntington Township Fire Department! 🚒

We had a great time welcoming an amazing group of kids from County Line Church to the Huntington Township Fire Department for a fun and educational field trip!

During their visit, the kids learned important fire safety tips, toured our fire station, got an up-close look at our fire trucks and equipment, and even had the opportunity to spray a real fire hose!

Teaching fire safety to our community's youth is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do. We hope everyone had as much fun as we did, and we appreciate County Line Church for spending the day with us.
