The Cabell County Commission seeks a candidate for a full-time (at-will) maintenance position. Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent qualification. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, carpentry, painting, mowing, electrical work, plumbing, and general maintenance of historic buildings and all other county-owned buildings and grounds. Must know the maintenance processes and operations. Maintain all machinery to keep it in working order. At least 3 years’ experience in maintenance, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, or another specialty. Preferred certification in plumbing and/or electrical. Starting salary: $40,000/yr plus benefits; retirement, paid lunch, all State and Federal holidays, health insurance, life insurance (paid plans for employee and family – additional voluntary life available), dental and vision insurance paid after first year. The County Commissioners’ Association of West Virginia (CCAWV) encourages West Virginians to take time to become informed about the candidates and issues on their ballots and participate in the election process.

County government plays an important role in our communities, and local elections help shape decisions that impact the places we call home.

The Cabell County Commissioners had the pleasure of seeing the new van for the Salvation Army! Jaclyn Johnson stopped by with the new wheelchair accessible van for the Salvation Army, which is utilized to transport senior citizens to special events! The Cabell County Commission provided funding to support this initiative to support our senior neighbors! ❤️

Today, the Cabell County Commission made the official selection of the new Cabell County Clerk, Danne Vance! He is currently serving as a Cabell County Magistrate Judge and will be formally sworn into his new role on October 29th!

Yesterday, the Cabell County Commissioners conducted public testing of election equipment. This is conducted every election year before both the Primary and General Elections. 🗳️

Early voting begins tomorrow, October 21st, and you can vote at any of four locations listed below!

- Cabell County Courthouse
- Marshall University Drinko Library
- Milton Community Center
- Woody Williams Center (Huntington Mall)

Cabell County Solid Waste Authority Recycling Event! ♻️

Our October Electronics Recycling Event is scheduled for Saturday (October 17th!) This will be our 8th event this year and the last one for 2026!

We will collect electronics from 8:00am to 11:30 am at the new recycling yard located at 1537 7th Ave in Huntington.

You will not need a fob to enter the gate.

Bring us your unwanted electronics for recycling. We will accept the following items: computer towers, monitors, cords, fax machines laptops, printers, cellphones, microwaves, audio/visual equipment, small appliances, and rechargeable batteries.

As mentioned earlier this year our contractor began charging us .50/lb for flatscreen televisions.

To offset that cost the following fees will apply to all flatscreen televisions:

Up to 32 inches - $5.00
33 to 40 inches - $10.00
41 to 55 inches - $15.00
56 to 65 inches - $20.00

There will be NO CHARGE for computer monitors.

Today, the Cabell County Commission attended the ribbon cutting for the new Simulation Lab at Cabell County EMS. This project has been an incredible process to improve training for new and current EMS employees with all new equipment, training systems, and offering real world scenarios. Thank you to all those that put in so much effort to make this concept a reality and build for the future. 🚑 ❤️
