Huntington UFSD Intermediate and Secondary Schools Celebrate Unity Day and the Power of Kindness...

Schools across Huntington UFSD came together to celebrate Unity Day, wearing orange to show their commitment to kindness, inclusion, and standing together against bullying. Students and staff embraced the opportunity to promote a positive school culture where everyone feels welcomed, valued, and included.

Throughout the day, students participated in activities that highlighted the importance of connection and belonging. Students enjoyed taking photos in front of special Unity Day banners, including a beautiful banner created by the school’s art teacher and an additional banner designed by a Student Council member. The Student Council also helped make the celebration a memorable experience for the school community.

The Kindness Jar offered students uplifting affirmations and reminders that even small acts of kindness can brighten someone’s day. Through Project Connect, students shared meaningful ways to show kindness throughout their school. Their messages, written on orange strips and linked together to form a chain, symbolized how every individual contributes to building a more caring, connected, and inclusive community.

Unity Day served as a powerful reminder that kindness begins with each of us. Through these meaningful activities, students and staff demonstrated that small, thoughtful actions can make a lasting difference and help ensure that everyone feels a sense of belonging.

Huntington UFSD is proud to see students and staff at Woodhull, Jack Abrams, Finley Middle School, and Huntington High School come together to celebrate unity and reaffirm their commitment to creating school communities where kindness, respect, and inclusion thrive.

Huntington High School College Fair Connects Students with Postsecondary Opportunities...

Huntington High School hosted a successful College Fair on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, bringing together juniors and seniors with representatives from more than 50 colleges and universities. Held in the High School Gymnasium during Periods 2 and 3, the event provided students with an opportunity to explore postsecondary options and learn more about the college admissions process.

Students connected with college representatives to ask questions about academic programs, admission requirements, campus life, scholarships, financial aid, and career opportunities. The fair featured a diverse range of institutions, including public and private universities, liberal arts colleges, and community colleges, giving students opportunities to explore schools that align with their interests and future goals.

“The College Fair is an important opportunity for our students to take an active role in planning their futures,” said Ricky Papandrea, Director of School Counseling & Testing, K–12. “By connecting directly with college representatives, students can ask meaningful questions, discover new possibilities, and make more informed decisions about their next steps after high school.”

Bernadette Walsh, School Counselor in Huntington High School’s College and Career Center, emphasized the value of helping students explore a wide range of options.

“Events like this allow students to engage directly with college representatives and learn about opportunities they may not have previously considered,” Mrs. Walsh said. “We want our students to feel informed and confident as they navigate the college search process, and the College Fair is an excellent way to help them take that next step.”

The College Fair reflects Huntington High School’s ongoing commitment to supporting students as they prepare for life after graduation. Through the Counseling Department and College and Career Center, students have access to resources and guidance to help them explore college, career, and other postsecondary pathways.

Huntington High School and the Counseling Department thanks the participating colleges and universities, staff members, and everyone who helped make this year's College Fair a success.

Learning Comes to Life in Second Grade at Flower Hill..!

Students in Ms. Dominguez’s second-grade dual language class had so much fun combining art, science, and literacy! After reading Looking at Art and learning about the painting "Soap Bubbles" by French artist Jean Siméon Chardin, students used the painting as inspiration to create their own colorful bubble art!

Throughout the activity, students explored states of matter, strengthened their literacy skills, and expanded their vocabulary by writing three-line alliteration poems using the first letter of their names. They also developed a growth mindset by practicing perseverance, being creative, and learning to keep trying even when something is challenging. "Activities like this encourage our students to think outside the box, try new things, and take pride in their learning,” said Principal Cindy Siegel. Way to go, second graders!

Jefferson Primary School Celebrates Fall at Kindergarten Harvest Festival...

Jefferson Primary School was filled with excitement as our kindergarten students celebrated the fall season at our annual Kindergarten Harvest Festival today. This special event was a wonderful example of collaboration among our PTA, teachers, and staff, who worked together to create a memorable experience for our youngest Jaguars.

Throughout the festival, students rotated through a variety of fun, hands-on activities designed to celebrate the magic of fall while creating lasting memories with their classmates.

The festivities included a special read-aloud led by Ms. Dooher, who brought the beloved story Room on the Broom by Julia Donaldson to life. Students were captivated by the adventures of the friendly witch and her animal companions as they listened, laughed, and joined in the excitement of this seasonal favorite. Each student enjoyed using their very own magic wand.

The fun continued at our pumpkin-picking and decorating station, where students had the opportunity to select their own pumpkins.

At the parachute game station, students worked together, laughed, and participated in an energetic group activity that encouraged cooperation and teamwork.

The excitement continued outdoors with a hayride around the school, giving students a chance to enjoy a sing along of Old MacDonald while sharing a special experience with their friends.

What made this event truly special was the teamwork and dedication behind the scenes. Our PTA volunteers, teachers, and staff came together to organize the activities, prepare the spaces, and ensure that our kindergarten students could enjoy a festive and engaging celebration. Their collective efforts helped bring the spirit of community to life at Jefferson Primary School. At Jefferson Primary, we believe that some of the most meaningful learning experiences happen when children feel connected to their school community. Our Kindergarten Harvest Festival was a beautiful reminder of what we can accomplish when we work together to make school a joyful place for every student.

Homecoming in Huntington doesn’t start at kickoff. It starts Thursday night, around a bonfire.

From Bonfire Night to Friday morning’s parade, with families lining the streets and waving at our kids, to alumni filling the stands and a team ready to show them what they’ve got, this weekend was about one thing. Community.

“When I look around, I see community, community, community.”

That says it all. Thank you to our coaches, staff, families, alumni, and everyone who helped carry this tradition forward again this year. (And yes, the food was a big hit. 🔥)

We are Huntington. Together we succeed. 💙

Watch and relive the weekend 👇

Teamwork, Creativity and Community Partnerships Come Together to Make a Difference at Woodhull...

Kindness, collaboration, and community spirit came together at Woodhull Intermediate School as students participating in the school's Makerspace program took on a special project to recognize their fellow Eagles.

Using pen-making craft kits generously donated by the Huntington Library, students designed and assembled unique, handcrafted pens to be presented to Woodhull's October Eagles of the Month. The project gave students an opportunity to put their imagination and hands-on skills to work while making something meaningful for others.

The initiative connected Woodhull's Makerspace program with its Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program, which encourages students to SOAR by being Safe, Owning Their Actions, Acting with Respect, and Rising to Their Best. With cooperation and teamwork as Woodhull's character focus for October, the project was especially meaningful. As students worked together to create thoughtful gifts for their peers, they demonstrated the very qualities being celebrated at this month's Eagle of the Month assembly.

The project also highlighted the value of community partnerships. Thanks to the generosity of the Huntington Library, students were able to turn a hands-on activity into a meaningful act of kindness and appreciation.

Woodhull is proud to see its Eagles working together to celebrate one another while strengthening connections between the school and the Huntington community. This special project is a wonderful example of how teamwork, positive character, and community partnerships come together to make a difference!

Grade 3 Students Building Knowledge, Celebrating What Makes Us Unique...

During Hispanic Heritage month third grade students have been learning about Sonia Sotomayor, the first Hispanic Supreme Court Justice in Library class with Ms. Dooher. The Library teacher read the book Just Ask, written by Justice Sonia Sotomayor, and discussed how our differences make us stronger as a class. T

The students extended their learning to the MakerSpace classroom where they participated in a challenge called The Tower of Knowledge. This activity challenged the students to build a tower of books, symbolizing Sonia Sotomayor's love of learning, using only books and index cards. The challenge required students to work as a team, plan together, explain their ideas, listen to their classmates, and continuously revise their original plan. Learning together and having so much fun!
