Child Sexual Abuse Materials Arrest

The Huntley Police Department announces the arrest of Jon M. Roth (43 years old) of the 9800 block of Williams Drive, Huntley, IL, on 10 counts of possession of child sexual abuse materials.

The Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force provided the Huntley Police Department with information that was obtained from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children data system regarding a phone number registered to a person in Huntley that was attempting to upload potential child sexual abuse materials for download via a cloud-based online storage service. Upon receiving this information, the Huntley Police Department’s Investigations Division conducted an investigation that led to the identification of the offender, Jon M. Roth.

Roth resides. Roth agreed to come to the Police Department while Huntley Police Department Detectives and Illinois Attorney General Investigators completed an examination and analysis of several seized electronic devices. He was subsequently taken into custody based on evidence gained during the search.

Jon M. Roth was charged with 10 counts of Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Materials – Victim under 13 years of age (Class 2 Felony). He will be transported to McHenry County Jail pending a detention hearing.

This is still an active investigation, and no further details will be released at this time.

🧡 October is National Bullying Prevention Month

Everyone has a role to play in preventing bullying—including what happens online.

Bullying can happen at school, on the playground, in group chats, through text messages, or on social media. Cyberbullying can include hurtful messages, spreading rumors, sharing embarrassing content, or using social media to harass or intimidate others.

👊 For students: If you see someone being bullied, don’t join in or simply scroll past. Be supportive, speak up when it’s safe, and tell a trusted adult.

👀 For parents and caregivers: Talk with your kids about their online experiences and remind them they can come to you for help.

Be kind. Be supportive. Speak up. We all have a role to play.

💜 Wear Purple. Raise Awareness. Show Support. 💜

Today, employees from the Huntley Police Department and Village Hall wore purple in recognition of National Wear Purple Day during Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

From Village employees wearing purple to our officers wearing purple undershirts, we came together to show our support for survivors and help raise awareness of domestic violence.

Domestic violence affects individuals, families, and communities. Raising awareness is an important step toward breaking the silence and reminding survivors that support is available.

🚔💐 Petal It Forward Day! 💐🚒

A little kindness goes a long way! Today, the Huntley Police Department and Huntley Fire Protection District visited Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital for Petal It Forward Day, spreading smiles and sharing flowers with patients, visitors, and hospital staff.

The idea is simple: keep one bouquet for yourself and give another to someone else. A small gesture can brighten someone’s day and create a ripple effect of kindness throughout our community. 💐

A special thank you to for generously donating the bouquets and helping us spread a little extra kindness throughout Huntley! Your support helped make today possible. 💐💙
