It was a pleasure visiting with the University of Alabama Huntsville Student Government Association! I enjoyed sharing how I got my start in public service, what it’s like representing North Alabama in Congress, and answering questions from students.

It’s encouraging to see young people taking an interest in serving others and recognizing the importance of giving back to their communities. I hope these students continue getting involved and finding ways to make a lasting impact. Thank you to the UAH SGA for having me!

North Alabama continues to attract companies doing critical work for our nation’s defense, and Dayton T. Brown is the latest example! I joined their team today to celebrate the opening of their new Huntsville Test and Qualification Center.

This new facility will help ensure the systems our military relies on are tested, reliable, and ready for the mission.

I appreciate Dayton T. Brown, Inc.’s investment in North Alabama and their confidence in the talented workforce that makes our region a national leader in aerospace and defense.

Retired Army Major Mike Connelly risked his life to save fellow American service members in Afghanistan, flying into combat zones to evacuate wounded soldiers.

I had the honor of presenting Major Connelly with the Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal with Valor, surrounded by his family.

Major Connelly represents the very best of our nation. His courage and sacrifice deserve our deepest gratitude, and it was a privilege to recognize his remarkable service.

It was a pleasure to be in Lawrence County to highlight the $1.2 million in federal funding I secured to modernize the county’s 911 radio system.

As a former firefighter, I know firsthand how important reliable communication is when responding to an emergency. These upgrades will give our law enforcement officers, firefighters, and emergency medical personnel better tools to do their jobs and keep our communities safe.

It was great to join Mayor Battle and Mayor Bartlett today to highlight two important projects that will help ease traffic congestion across North Alabama.

I secured $3.5 million in FY26 community project funding to add lanes to Slaughter Road. Huntsville also received a $10.8 million grant to improve access to Redstone Arsenal and ease congestion on I-565 through the Defense Community Infrastructure Program, which I’ve supported since taking office

These projects will make a real difference for the families and workers who travel these routes every day!

It was an honor to break ground on the new state veterans cemetery in Madison County.

I worked closely with Governor Ivey and the Alabama Department of Veterans Affairs to help secure nearly $19 million in federal funding for this project.

Our veterans have sacrificed so much for our country, and they deserve our deepest gratitude and respect. This cemetery will give North Alabama veterans a final resting place close to home, where their service and sacrifice will be honored for generations to come.

I was proud to secure $3,000,000 for the Decatur Bridge Study to increase capacity across the Tennessee River. This project is vital to improving commute times for residents and supporting economic development efforts across the Tennessee Valley. Investing in our local infrastructure improves quality of life and enhances public safety, and I will never apologize for bringing our hard-earned tax dollars back home.

I appreciated the opportunity to visit with the Morgan County Rescue Squad and discuss their future priorities for the agency. As a lifelong first responder myself, I am grateful for their dedication to serving the community. These folks have dangerous jobs but are always quick to respond with courage during times of emergency. I look forward to continuing our partnership and working to ensure they have the assets needed to safely serve the public.

It was great attending the Lexington Town Council meeting and discussing economic development efforts with members of the community. I am proud to partner with the town council, county commission, and our state legislative delegation to support job creation and new investment in rural Lauderdale County.
