These photos are from our fire call on the mountain last night, where our new Kawasaki Mule was put to work doing exactly what we hoped it would do.

Thanks to the RC&D grant, we were able to add this side-by-side and skid unit to our department. Last night, it allowed our firefighters to access difficult terrain and get personnel, equipment, and water closer to the fire—areas that would have been much harder to reach with our larger apparatus.

Equipment like this can make a tremendous difference when responding to brush fires, woods fires, and emergencies in the rough and mountainous terrain throughout our district.

A very special thank you to Ritchie Whorton and Craig Hill and Steve Livingston for helping make this possible. Your support of our department directly helps us better protect and serve our community.

We’re extremely grateful for the opportunity and proud to put this equipment to work!

🚨 INCIDENT UPDATE / COMMUNITY THANK YOU 🚨
Late last night around 11:00 PM, our department was dispatched to a structure fire in the area of the Maysville four-way. Firefighters worked tirelessly for hours under challenging conditions to suppress the flames and protect neighboring properties. Unfortunately, despite everyone’s best efforts, the structure was a complete loss. 🏠🔥💔
Operations like this rely heavily on mutual aid, and we are extremely grateful for our neighboring fire departments. We want to extend a huge, heartfelt THANK YOU to our brothers and sisters at:
🚒 Killingsworth Cove Volunteer Fire Department
🚒 Gurley Fire & Rescue
🚒 Moores Mill Vol. Fire Rescue
🚒 New Market Volunteer Fire Dept.
Your rapid response, extra manpower, and seamless teamwork on scene made all the difference last night. 👏🤝
🎥 HELMET CAM FOOTAGE:
We have uploaded raw helmet cam footage from the interior attack to give our community a firsthand look at what our crews face inside a working structure fire. This is great work being conducted by FF Yother and FF Simmons. Head over to our page video section to check it out—and please remember to give our firefighters a shoutout for their hard work! 📹👨‍🚒👩‍🚒

🚨 Heat Safety Alert 🚨
The heat index could reach 110°F over the next few days! Stay safe, stay cool, and look out for one another.
✅ Check on family, friends, and neighbors—especially those who are elderly or live alone.
✅ Never leave children or pets in parked vehicles—temperatures can become deadly in minutes. 🚫🚗
✅ Keep pets indoors during peak heat, avoid hot pavement, and always provide plenty of fresh water. Remember, if you are hot your pets are hot. 🐾💧
✅ Stay hydrated, wear light clothing, and limit outdoor activity during midday. 💧👕
Let’s look out for our community and our furry friends! 🌞❤️

Here is some video taken on a helmet cam from the structure fire we assisted Killingsworth Cove Volunteer Fire Department with. The audio has been removed.
Although you can only see one firefighter there is another firefighter behind him helping him put out the fire and recognize any potential hazards. Great work guys!

🚨 Quick Check: Do You Know Your Fire District? 🚨
Hi neighbors!
We’re reaching out to make sure everyone in our area knows which fire department district they belong to. It can be confusing since you often see multiple fire departments arriving on incident scenes.
If you’re unsure whether you’re in our district, no worries! Just reply to this post via private message with your address. We’ll quickly confirm what fire department is your primary (first due) and let you know.
Thank you and stay safe!!
