A SWEET TRADITION THAT MAKES A BIG DIFFERENCE!

The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office and Moberly Police Department are once again grateful to the Moberly Optimist Club for continuing their annual tradition of donating Halloween candy to our agencies!

While the candy may be sweet, the generosity and community spirit behind this tradition are even sweeter!

Traditions like this remind us that strong communities aren't built by any one organization or individual. They're built by people who genuinely care, give back, and work together to make a difference.

The Moberly Optimist Club continues to demonstrate what community service is all about. Their generosity, dedication, and commitment to bringing smiles to others are an inspiration and a reminder that even the smallest gestures can have a lasting impact.

We are fortunate to serve a community where partnerships go beyond a handshake and where supporting one another is simply what we do.

From all of us at the Randolph County Sheriff's Office and Moberly Police Department, THANK YOU to the Moberly Optimist Club for your continued generosity, friendship, and unwavering support of our local law enforcement agencies.

🎃 It's more than candy. It's community, tradition, and the spirit of giving! 💙

SPEED ENFORCEMENT: Because 25 Isn’t a Suggestion

You asked, we listened! After receiving citizen complaints about some slightly enthusiastic accelerator use around Renick, Cpl. Ben Weirich deployed our speed trailer to give drivers a friendly reminder to ease up on the gas.

Think of it as a little roadside accountability—it’ll show you your speed for free. If you keep trying to impress it, however, one of our deputies may be happy to discuss your performance personally.

The trailer was made available through a cooperative agreement with the Missouri Regional Council of Governments, and we greatly appreciate their partnership and support.

A special thanks also goes to Sgt. Nick Berry—not pictured, but definitely involved—for helping facilitate and coordinate this resource.

So, Renick… enjoy the new sign, keep it at 25, and remember: the goal is to see your speed on the trailer, not on a citation.

Stay safe, slow it down, and buckle up!

The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office would like to congratulate Cpl. Michaela Mathis on completing the Warrior’s Rest Foundation Crisis Intervention Training in Columbia, Missouri.

Over the course of three days, Cpl. Mathis participated in specialized training focused on helping first responders effectively recognize and respond to individuals experiencing acute mental health crises. The program provided 27 hours of Missouri POST-certified training and practical skills that can be applied in the field.

Continuing education like this strengthens our ability to serve Randolph County while giving our deputies additional resources to handle some of the most difficult and sensitive situations they encounter.

We appreciate Cpl. Mathis taking the initiative to further her training and bring that knowledge back to our agency and the community we serve.

Congratulations, Cpl. Mathis, and thank you for representing the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office!

🚨 SCAM ALERT — PLEASE SHARE 🚨

The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office wants to warn citizens about a scam involving false warrants and missed jury duty.

Scammers are contacting people by phone and claiming they have missed jury duty, have an outstanding warrant, or must pay a fine to avoid being arrested. DO NOT SEND MONEY!

⚠️ IMPORTANT: Members of the Sheriff’s Office and other law-enforcement agencies — including federal agencies — will NOT call you and demand money over the phone for warrants, missed jury duty, or citations.

If someone calls claiming to be law enforcement and tells you to:
• Pay a warrant or fine over the phone
• Purchase gift cards or send money
• Provide banking or payment information
• Call a number they provide to arrange payment

👉 STOP. IT IS LIKELY A SCAM.

If you are instructed to report to the Law Enforcement Center, speak with someone in person rather than calling a number provided by the caller or making any payment over the phone.

📢 Please share this post to help protect your family, friends, and neighbors from becoming victims.

When in doubt, verify directly with your local law-enforcement agency using an official phone number — not a number provided by the caller.

The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce that Chief Deputy Joe Harrison has successfully completed the Missouri Law Enforcement Phlebotomy Program (LEPP) and obtained qualification as a Law Enforcement Phlebotomist (LEP).

The Missouri LEPP is a specialized statewide program funded through a grant from the Missouri Department of Transportation Highway Safety & Traffic Division to the Missouri Safety Center. The program provides selected law enforcement officers with extensive academic, practical, and clinical training necessary to become qualified law enforcement phlebotomists.

Chief Deputy Harrison was selected as one of a limited number of law enforcement officers from across Missouri to participate in the program. The training includes approximately six weeks of online instruction and assignments, in-person classroom and practical training through Moberly Area Community College (MACC) in Mexico, Missouri, and a supervised clinical externship. Candidates are required to successfully complete 100 blood draws under the supervision of approved clinical staff before officially completing the program.

The addition of a qualified Law Enforcement Phlebotomist provides the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office and surrounding law enforcement agencies with another valuable resource during impaired-driving and other investigations where the lawful collection of a blood specimen is necessary.

Having this capability available locally can assist officers with the timely collection and preservation of evidence while reducing reliance on hospitals and other medical facilities solely for evidentiary blood draws. The statewide LEPP also anticipates qualified participants assisting other law enforcement agencies in and around their counties when their specialized services are needed.

Chief Deputy Harrison's completion of the program represents another investment by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office in specialized training, professional development, and resources that can benefit not only Randolph County but law enforcement partners throughout the region.

The Missouri LEPP maintains centralized statewide oversight of initial training, requalification, and continued qualification of participating Law Enforcement Phlebotomists. Qualified LEPs are required to complete requalification training every two years.
