HEARTBREAKING…Sad & mad that two friends went to bed hungry, afraid, confused, and woke up with those same emotions….
…..two of our elderly homebound neighbors that have had a family member steal their money, took away their only form of communication, and abandoned them in a home with NOTHING TO EAT!
…..These could be your “neighbors” from church, literally live next door, past co-workers, etc…

BUT GOD used a lady in our community that immediately jumped into action when she found out..she called us for help!

We immediately provided crisis bags (non perishable food items)
2 hot meals
Resources for addl help
Enrolled them into our program…
…sweet “neighbors” cried and said, we’ve been praying God would send someone today!”

IT’S A MEAL….
and SO MUCH MORE!

The 2026 Meals on Wheels Annual Conference & Expo brought the network together around a shared goal: building the capacity and resilience needed to End the Wait™. We are proud to be a part of this incredible work to ensure every senior who needs Meals on Wheels gets it.

Yesterday, 8/6/26 was National Balloon Day! Many of our participants wrote notes to those they love; we sent off two!

Balloons are so popular, we will continue celebrating next week with balloon pickle ball!

That promised to be quite fun and lots of laughs!

Today is National Hamburger Day! At Meals on Wheels Walker County TX we were all crowned Burger Royalty! We served burgers both at the Center and for home-delivery!

For fun at the Center, we had a contest of assembling “play burgers” blindfolded!

And for added fun, they got to taste different cheeses and choose which one they liked best to add their burger!

May is OLDER AMERICANS month! (At Meals on Wheels Walker Co TX, we celebrate every month ❤️)

We appreciate Commissioners Court for the Proclamation presentation!

We are grateful for SHSU L.E.A.P. students and Professor Mike Yawn, board members and a fraction of our volunteers as they give their time weekly to impact older Americans!

Shout out to the SHSU L.E.A.P. students that came as part of their class back in early spring—-they ❤️❤️❤️ serving our senior adults and they continue to show up on their own time to keep being a part of making a difference!
